Description
In a world where every person is born with an innate skill that receives a star ranking from the church, a young girl named Femicia receives the worst possible fate. On her fifth birthday, her Tamer ability is appraised as starless, a zero-star skill considered an ill omen rejected by the gods. Her once-loving family immediately turns on her, subjecting her to emotional and physical abuse. A kindly blind fortune teller named Luba offers her shelter, but after Luba falls ill and the village refuses to help, the woman dies. Villagers then accuse the child of being a curse and attempt to kill her. Forced to flee for her life, the eight-year-old cuts her hair, disguises herself as a boy, and renames herself Ivy.

Ivy survives by scavenging through garbage dumps, catching small animals, and selling their meat. While traveling alone in the forest, she discovers a tiny, weak, and dying slime that is disintegrating. Because her Tamer skill is so feeble, she is able to befriend the fragile creature without harming it. She names the slime Sora, who becomes her first companion. Sora has a unique ability to consume expired items, particularly old healing potions that Ivy finds in the trash. As Sora grows by eating these discarded items, he begins developing special powers, including the ability to sense whether people have malicious intent. Ivy also hears the faint voice of a past life from another world, which occasionally offers her guidance.

Throughout her journey from town to town, Ivy demonstrates remarkable resourcefulness and maturity for her age, a direct result of her trauma and the need to survive alone. She eventually tames a massive black panther-like creature called an adandala, which she names Ciel, who becomes a powerful protector. The first major narrative arc follows Ivy as she arrives in Latome Village, where the gatekeeper surprisingly knows of her original village, which has since fallen into decline due to its corrupt chief. She stays at an adventurer's campground, buys a used tent, and faces harassment from its previous owners before guards intervene on her behalf.

The second half of the season takes Ivy to the larger town of Otolwa, where she encounters a dangerous criminal organization. Using her intelligence, Sora's ability to detect evil people, and guidance from her past-life memories, Ivy helps a group of adventurers and knights dismantle the crime ring. This arc tests her wits against experienced adults, though she remains a physically weak child throughout, never gaining traditional power or combat strength. Throughout these events, Ivy struggles to trust adults, constantly fearing they will discover her secret and reject or kill her as her family once did. The series follows her slow, tentative steps toward opening up to others while continuing her wandering journey in search of a place to belong.
