"Hunter × Hunter: Phantom Rouge" is a 2013 anime film based on Yoshihiro Togashi's popular manga series "Hunter × Hunter." The story centers on Gon Freecss, Killua Zoldyck, Kurapika, and Leorio Paradinight as they embark on a mission to recover Kurapika's stolen Scarlet Eyes, a prized possession of the Kurta Clan. The narrative begins with the group encountering a mysterious girl named Omokage, who claims to have information about the Phantom Troupe, a notorious group of thieves. Omokage reveals that the Phantom Troupe is responsible for stealing Kurapika's eyes, prompting the group to investigate further.

As the story unfolds, Gon and Killua discover that Omokage has a personal vendetta against the Phantom Troupe, particularly its leader, Chrollo Lucilfer. Omokage's past is revealed through flashbacks, showing her connection to the Troupe and her desire for revenge. Meanwhile, Kurapika struggles with his own emotions and the weight of his mission to reclaim his clan's eyes, which are deeply tied to his identity and sense of justice.

The plot takes a darker turn when it is revealed that Omokage is not entirely truthful about her intentions. Her actions are driven by a desire to manipulate Gon and Killua into confronting the Phantom Troupe on her behalf. The film delves into themes of trust, betrayal, and the moral complexities of revenge. The climax features a confrontation between Gon, Killua, and members of the Phantom Troupe, including Hisoka, who has his own enigmatic motives. The battle sequences highlight the characters' unique abilities and strategic thinking, showcasing the series' signature blend of action and psychological depth.

Throughout the film, the dynamics between the main characters are explored, particularly Gon and Killua's unwavering friendship and Kurapika's internal conflict. The narrative also provides insight into the Phantom Troupe's operations and their ruthless nature, adding depth to the series' overarching lore. "Phantom Rouge" serves as a standalone story that complements the main series, offering fans a deeper look into Kurapika's backstory and the ongoing conflict with the Phantom Troupe. The film maintains the tone and themes of the original series while delivering a self-contained adventure that expands on its world and characters.
