The narrative unfolds as two insurance agents, Meryl Stryfe and Milly Thompson, are tasked with assessing the damage caused by Vash to minimize their company's losses. Initially believing Vash to be a dangerous criminal, they soon discover his true nature: a kind-hearted, goofy individual who values life above all else. As they accompany him on his journey, they uncover the complexities of his past and the reasons behind his pacifism.

Alongside his brother, Knives Millions, Vash was created to serve as a resource for humanity.
