OVA
Description
"Infinite Stratos 2: World Purge-hen" is a two-episode OVA series that serves as a continuation of the "Infinite Stratos" franchise. The story revolves around Ichika Orimura, the only male capable of piloting the advanced exoskeleton weapon known as the Infinite Stratos (IS). The narrative begins with Ichika and his classmates—Houki Shinonono, Cecilia Alcott, Lingyin Huang, Charlotte Dunois, and Laura Bodewig—preparing for a school festival. However, their plans are disrupted when a mysterious organization, Phantom Task, launches a global attack using hijacked IS units.
The conflict escalates as Phantom Task deploys a powerful new IS unit, the "Silver Gospel," which wreaks havoc across multiple cities. Ichika and his companions are tasked with neutralizing the threat, but the situation becomes more complicated when it is revealed that the Silver Gospel is being controlled by a young girl named Tatenashi Sarashiki, who is under the influence of Phantom Task. Tatenashi, a skilled IS pilot and the student council president of another academy, is manipulated into believing that her actions will bring about a better world.
As the battle intensifies, Ichika and his allies confront Tatenashi and the Silver Gospel. The fight tests their teamwork and resolve, with Ichika playing a pivotal role in breaking through Tatenashi's mental conditioning. The climax sees Ichika and Tatenashi engaging in a high-stakes duel, during which Ichika manages to reach out to her and help her regain her sense of self. With Tatenashi freed from Phantom Task's control, the group works together to disable the Silver Gospel and thwart the organization's plans.
The OVA maintains the series' focus on mecha combat, interpersonal dynamics, and the challenges Ichika faces as the sole male IS pilot. It also introduces new elements, such as Tatenashi's character and the broader implications of Phantom Task's actions, while reinforcing the themes of camaraderie and personal growth present throughout the franchise. The story concludes with the group returning to their daily lives, though the lingering threat of Phantom Task suggests that further conflicts may arise.
