Description
Kaoru Kino is a character who appears as a surgeon whose exceptional career was derailed by tragedy. Before the events of the story, he and his younger brother, Masato, were involved in a severe accident on a snowy mountain. The incident led to the death of his brother and left Kaoru’s own right arm so badly frostbitten that it had to be amputated. In a subsequent grafting procedure, his brother’s arm was transplanted onto him. This traumatic event, coupled with the loss of his brother and the unusual nature of the transplant, ultimately led to the revocation of his medical license, forcing him to work as an unlicensed underground physician.

A later turning point in his life was being a survivor of the Akatsuki incident, a catastrophic event at sea that awakened latent superhuman abilities within certain individuals. As a result, Kaoru gained the power to transform into a being known as Another Agito. However, this transformation reflects a corrupted or flawed version of the power, mirroring the psychological scars he carries.

In terms of personality, Kaoru is portrayed as a man consumed by a deep-seated trauma and a singular sense of purpose. He is a solitary figure, often perceived as cold, arrogant, and intensely focused on his own mission. Prior to his fall, he was a genius physician, and he retains his incredible surgical skill, which he uses in his private practice. However, his motivation is not purely altruistic. He is haunted by the guilt of having survived the mountain accident while his brother perished, and he feels a compulsive need to save others as a way to atone for his perceived failure. This manifests as a dangerous conviction that he alone must be the one to protect people and eliminate the monstrous beings known as the Lords, believing that only he has the right and the responsibility to do so.

This possessive and uncompromising outlook forms his central motivation and drives his role in the story. Initially, he does not ally with other heroes who possess similar Agito powers, such as Shoichi Tsugami (Agito) and Ryo Ashihara (Gills). Instead, Kaoru views them as rivals or obstacles to his self-appointed mission. His psychological instability, which is often triggered by phantom pains or involuntary movements in his transplanted right arm, leads him to confront and even try to eliminate the other Agitos, believing that the power should belong to him alone.

His most significant relationships are defined by this initial conflict. He is an antagonist to Shoichi Tsugami and Ryo Ashihara, engaging in violent battles to prove his superiority and singular right to fight. The presence of his brother’s arm serves as a constant reminder of his past, and moments of intense cruelty or violence from him are often interrupted by the arm acting of its own accord, symbolizing his brother's silent protest against his actions. This internal struggle is a key aspect of his development. Over time, through his defeats and interactions with the other Riders, he begins to confront his own failings and the weakness that led him down a dark path. He eventually moves from being a hostile rival to a troubled but vital ally, cooperating with the heroes in their larger battle.

Kaoru Kino’s character development culminates in a final act of selfless heroism. After being gravely injured while protecting others, he uses his remaining strength to perform a life-saving surgery on Shoichi Tsugami. Having finally made peace with his past and his role, he succumbs to his wounds and dies, finding a form of redemption by saving another.

As Another Agito, his notable abilities include superhuman strength, speed, and agility that exceed those of the basic forms of other Agitos. He possesses sharp bio-claws on his forearms and can execute powerful finishing attacks, most notably the Assault Kick, a flying kick that channels immense energy. His armored form is distinct, featuring a horned, insect-like visage and the ability to open its faceplate to reveal a powerful jaw-like structure. He also rides a specialized motorcycle known as the Dark Hopper, which can be summoned remotely. Despite his power, his form is considered incomplete or unstable, mirroring his own fractured psyche.
