Description
Shin Kazamatsuri is the protagonist and central figure of the film Shin Kamen Rider: Prologue, where he is known as the Cyborg Soldier, specifically designated as a Level 3 mutant. Before his transformation, Shin is a professional motorcyclist who willingly gave up his racing career to participate in a medical experiment led by his father, Dr. Daimon Kazamatsuri, believing the goal was to find cures for serious diseases. Unbeknownst to Shin and his father, the research was funded by a sinister organization known as the Syndicate, which intended to create a new breed of super-soldiers. Furthermore, his father's partner, Dr. Giichi Onizuka, had his own secret ambition to create a new species of grasshopper-human hybrids over which he could rule as a god.

The experiment bonds grasshopper DNA with Shin's cells, transforming him into a heavily mutated, insect-like humanoid. His personality is defined by a deep internal conflict. Haunted by horrifying nightmares that are telepathic echoes of Onizuka's violent rampages, Shin initially lives in fear and apprehension, believing he might be the one responsible for the murders. He struggles to maintain a semblance of normality in his life while trying to uncover the conspiracy that is unraveling his world. Despite his monstrous appearance and a feral, instinct-driven fighting style, Shin is in full control of his mutant form. He is largely docile when unprovoked and actively tries to avoid conflict, only resorting to violence when directly threatened or when those he loves are in danger. His core motivation is a strong, if reluctant, sense of justice. He is driven to protect his remaining friends and family, including his girlfriend Ai Asuka, and to expose the truth behind the Syndicate's operations.

Within the story, Shin is caught in a three-way conflict between the Syndicate, which wants to eliminate him as a failed experiment, and the CIA, which seeks to capture or neutralize him as a potential threat. His key relationships are central to the plot. His father, Daimon, is the well-meaning scientist who inadvertently created the situation. His antagonist, Giichi Onizuka, is another Cyborg Soldier with whom Shin shares a psychic link; Onizuka attempts to manipulate Shin into embracing his violent nature. Goushima, a powerful and outdated Level 2 cyborg, serves as a primary physical enemy, acting as the right-hand man to the Syndicate's leader, Iwao Himuro. The most significant relationship is with his girlfriend, Ai Asuka. Her death at the hands of the Syndicate serves as the pivotal moment that crystallizes Shin's resolve, clearing his doubts and pushing him to fully embrace his power to destroy the organization.

Shin's development throughout the film is a journey from a confused and frightened victim to a determined, isolated hero. He begins by turning to friends and family for solace, but as his life crumbles and his loved ones are killed or lost, he comes to walk a bitter path of isolation, forfeiting his own happiness to confront the evil he faces. In the end, he finds a new glimmer of hope when he learns that his unborn son, who has inherited his mutant abilities, may still be alive, giving him a reason to continue forward.

As a fighter, Shin relies purely on his immense animalistic strength and instincts, possessing no formal martial arts training. His body is a biological weapon. His primary offensive tools are the High Vibration Nails, curved claws on his fingers that can cut through flesh and metal with a single touch, and the Spine Cutters, serrated, shark-like blades on his forearms that can also be used for defense. He also possesses powerful jaws with a bite force of 500 to 600 kilograms, capable of chewing through metal. His grasshopper-based enhancements grant him phenomenal leaping ability, able to jump up to 114 meters in a single bound, and superhuman speed, allowing him to run 100 meters in 3.4 seconds. His punching and kicking power are measured at approximately 2.8 tons and 4.2 tons, respectively. Another notable ability is his advanced regeneration, which allows him to heal from most wounds and quickly regrow his High Vibration Nails and Spine Cutters if they are broken. Finally, the psychic link created during his transformation gives him telepathic abilities, allowing him to sense the presence of, share memories with, and even communicate with other mutants created from the same experiment, such as Onizuka and his own son. A key tragic element of his existence is that his transformation is permanent; he cannot return to his purely human form.
