In retaliation, he imprisoned The Heat and his accomplice Walt Flanagan. To demonstrate his ruthlessness, he executed Flanagan as a warning and demanded The Heat repay one hundred million dollars by month's end.

His reign ended when The Bastard confronted him, accusing him of stealing eight hundred million dollars. Despite The Salamander's attempts to negotiate, The Bastard detonated his skull and those of his henchmen. This fatal outcome stemmed from Johnny Bolt’s orchestrated frame-up; Bolt’s crew wore identical Salamander costumes during a heist at The Bastard’s mansion, directing The Bastard’s vengeance toward him.
