Description
Kanibubbler is a kaijin, or monster, from the original series. This creature is a humanoid crab and serves as a member of Shocker, a secret criminal organization. As a Shocker kaijin, Kanibubbler was created through the process of cybernetic surgery, transforming a human being into a combatant with the traits of a crab and powerful weapons built into its body. Its physical design is a fusion of organic, crab-like features such as a hard exoskeleton and large claws, with mechanical implants like a reinforced alloy shell and optical devices.

Kanibubbler was deployed by Shocker to spearhead a specific operation known as the Seafloor Earthquake Strategy. Its role was to carry out a series of attacks to cause tsunamis, using a new type of underwater bomb to target and destroy Hokkaido's Muroran Peninsula. The monster was also responsible for covering up Shocker's tracks by destroying seismographs at weather observatories to prevent the detection of these artificial earthquakes. Its hidden base of operations was located on the ocean floor off the coast of Hokkaido.

The personality of Kanibubbler is not deeply explored, but its actions demonstrate a dedicated loyalty to Shocker's goals. It carries out its orders with ruthless efficiency, focusing on strategic targets and eliminating anyone who gets too close to Shocker's plans. This is shown when it kills a diver who approaches its undersea base and later kidnaps an FBI investigator to retrieve a lost radio and to secure a test subject for the organization's human modification programs. It is a creature of action, primarily concerned with completing its mission of destruction.

The monster's most notable and dangerous ability is the power to produce a special dissolving foam. The creature can expel this bubble-like substance from its mouth, which is potent enough to melt a human being entirely on contact. This attack was also used tactically to blind Kamen Rider 2 by spraying it in his face. For physical combat, Kanibubbler relies on the enormous claw on its left hand, an electromagnetic pincer capable of easily cutting through steel. Its entire body is protected by a thick shell that can repel attacks, including a Rider Kick. As a water-adapted kaijin, it is amphibious and possesses artificial gills, allowing it to breathe and operate effectively underwater.

The creature is primarily an antagonist for Kamen Rider 2. After the monster conducts a series of attacks, Kamen Rider 2 successfully tracks it back to its underwater headquarters. Following a confrontation in the stronghold where the kaijin fails to detonate the underwater bombs, the battle moves to the coast. Although it manages to blind its opponent with its foam, Kamen Rider 2 avoids its pincer strike, causing the claw to get stuck in a rock. This moment of vulnerability allows Kamen Rider 2 to destroy Kanibubbler with a Rider Punch.

The character was later resurrected by Shocker and reappeared in the original series, serving as a supporting monster for another kaijin named Torikabuto. In this plot, it helped kidnap children for the testing of a deadly plant-based poison gas. This operation ultimately failed, and Kanibubbler was killed again when the poison gas was turned against it and the other revived monsters by Kazuya Taki, an ally of Kamen Rider. Its final minor appearance was as a member of a revived monster army in the film Kamen Rider vs. Shocker, though it does not have an active role there.
