Description
Chevelle Kayama, alternatively identified as Schubel Quill, attends Goha 6th Elementary and holds the position of Tactical Advisor in its Heavy Cavalry Duel Club. His constant companion is the pigeon Pidgetrap Quill, also known as Hatrap, who formally shares the Tactical Advisor role within the club.
Physically, Chevelle sports curly purple hair and golden eyes. His standard attire consists of a light tan or yellow jacket layered over a white collared shirt, white pants fastened with a brown belt, a green bowtie, white gloves, and black boots. A red cape drapes his shoulders, with a distinctive brown pad on the left side designed as a perch for Pidgetrap.
Personality-wise, Chevelle displays arrogance yet unwavering loyalty toward friends and colleagues. He harbors deep affection for Pidgetrap. His speech idiosyncrasies include peppering sentences with French terms and habitually appending his own name as a suffix. He also interprets Pidgetrap’s coos for others, substituting his name-ending quirk with "coo" when vocalizing the pigeon’s supposed dialogue.
Chevelle debuted narratively alongside Galient Townsend, witnessing Asana Mutsuba’s declaration against Rush Duels following Yuga Ohdo’s victory over Nail Saionji. Initially an antagonist in the Goha 6th Elementary arc, he actively collaborated with his club to thwart the protagonists’ advocacy of Rush Duels.
As a duelist, he employs a Winged Beast-focused deck heavily dependent on Trap Cards. He does not devise his own strategies; instead, he executes moves based on real-time instructions he claims to receive from Pidgetrap during duels. Notable cards in his arsenal include monsters like Bombird, Tyhone, Bombheart, and Phantom Dove Night Vision, alongside spells and traps such as Heart Foolery, Counter Bomb, Counter Shield, Heartbreak Look, and Shot through the Heart.
His recorded duels encompass a loss to Tatsuhisa Kamijo (Luke) in episode 37 and an off-screen group triumph with Asana Mutsuba, Tiadosia Kallister, Galian Townsend, and Caterpillio Zomyoji against Goha 66 members in episodes 46-47.
