Description
Fūka Kikuchi is a classmate of protagonist Fumiya Tomozaki and one of the heroines of the story. She is a student at Sekitomo High School. Outwardly, she has black hair and light yellowish eyes, though the protagonist often perceives her with an ethereal, silver-haired quality, likening her to an angel or a fairy. She works part-time at a hamburger restaurant in Ōmiya.

Her personality is reserved, introspective, and gentle, and she always speaks to others with a polite and refined manner. She is a quiet individual who spends much of her free time in the school library, driven by a profound love of literature. This passion is rooted in her motivation to become a novelist, which in turn fuels a deep fascination with studying human behavior, the motives behind people's actions, and the experiences that shape them. Her strong sense of empathy and observation allows her to understand the unspoken emotions and social dynamics within her class, and she occasionally offers advice to Tomozaki based on these insights. While she is naturally selfless and tends to prioritize the needs of others, this trait can sometimes lead her to neglect her own well-being.

Fūka holds a strong admiration for the author Michael Andi, a reference to the real-life German writer Michael Ende. Her initial connection with Tomozaki is forged through a misunderstanding in which she believes he shares her literary passion. Although she is disappointed to learn he has not read Andi's books, she is encouraged when he commits to reading them, which helps build a bond of trust between them. According to the author of the series, Tomozaki’s internal monologue takes on a noticeably more fantastical tone whenever Fūka appears, which was an intentional choice to change the narrative rhythm.

Her role in the story begins when the accomplished student Aoi Hinami identifies her as the ideal romantic prospect for Tomozaki, orchestrating opportunities for him to approach her. Over time, their relationship deepens from a shared literary interest into genuine mutual romantic feelings, and they eventually begin dating. Their relationship, however, is not without its challenges. After they start dating, differences in their perspectives and the unintended consequences of outside tasks create heartache and ordeals for the couple to navigate.

Throughout the series, Fūka demonstrates notable abilities as a talented writer and scriptwriter. During the school cultural festival, she adapted one of her own original novels into a script for her class play, which proved to be a success. Later, her work as a novelist receives recognition from a publisher, marking a significant achievement in her creative journey.

In terms of other key relationships, she has a younger brother named Riku Kikuchi, whose occasional teasing causes her to become flustered. She develops a friendship with Izumi Yuzu, bonding over their shared experiences as girlfriends, and also becomes close with Hanabi Natsubayashi, acting as a conversation partner to help her through a difficult time. Her ability to understand people’s essences is noted by other perceptive characters, though her method is distinct as she tends to analyze from a third-person perspective rather than through direct conversation. Throughout her journey, Fūka evolves from a quiet background observer into a more active participant within her social circle and romantic relationship, learning to balance her supportive nature with her own needs and boundaries.
