Description
Kyoko Kakei is a fifteen-year-old student from Shikanotoride Junior High School's third-year Class B who becomes a participant in the program depicted in Battle Royale II: Requiem. Standing at 161 centimeters tall, she is known for being the cool girl of her school and is an athlete, specifically a tennis player. Her personality is defined by a stubborn and take-charge attitude, largely shaped by growing up with three older brothers, which means she is not easily intimidated by boys and frequently makes fun of them.

At the outset of the program, when students are called to choose sides, Kyoko's classmates Nozomi Sagisawa, Risa Shindo, Honami Totsuka, and Mayu Hasuda attempt to stop her from joining the winners' side. However, after her partner Osamu Kasai makes that choice, she follows him and joins as well. Throughout the deadly events, Kyoko displays a capacity for deep care and emotional response to the loss of those around her. After surviving the initial landing mission, she is placed in Group A. During a mission to gather supplies, she notices a classmate, Miki Ikeda, hiding in a danger zone. When the group calls out to her but Miki runs away and her collar subsequently explodes, Kyoko screams her name in grief and is visibly saddened by the death. Later, as the group rests in some ruins, Osamu falls asleep and flops over onto her shoulder; she responds by pushing him off with a disgusted expression, maintaining her characteristic demeanor.

On the second day of the program, Kyoko is seen helping to take care of the injured Nozomi alongside Risa and Mayu. When Nozomi's injuries prove fatal and she dies, Kyoko is among those who cry over the loss of their friend. When the Wild Seven base is struck by missiles, she rushes to check on a badly injured member who, before dying, hands her a baby and entrusts her with the child's care as well as the other children present. That night, she attends a memorial bonfire where she mourns the friends who have been lost. During the group's escape through a tunnel, Osamu confesses that he has always been in love with her and asks her what he should do. Kyoko responds by telling him to go and fight, which he does. After emerging from the tunnel, she is among the survivors, having escaped along with Nao Asakura, Haruya Sakurai, Risa Shindo, and Mayu Hasuda.

Following their escape, Kyoko and the other surviving students travel with the children to Afghanistan, where they live for three months while waiting for Takuma Aoi and Shuya Nanahara. When the two finally reunite with the group, Kyoko is overjoyed, though she is unable to hug someone named Taku because she is holding the baby entrusted to her. When the other surviving students are given the choice to join the Wild Seven, they decline, and Kyoko remains in Afghanistan with the baby, presumably for the rest of her life. Throughout the ordeal, she demonstrates notable abilities in physical agility and intelligence, with her tennis background contributing to her athleticism, and she shows a practical, no-nonsense approach to the life-or-death situations she faces.
