Description
Kamen Rider Kaixa, designated by the transformation code 913, is the second armored suit to appear in the series. Themed after the Greek letter Chi, its design features yellow Photon Stream lines and a purple eye visor. The suit was developed by the Smart Brain corporation alongside the Faiz gear, and on paper, its combat capabilities, including punch and kick force, generally exceed those of Faiz in its base form.
However, Kaixa is most famously known as the cursed belt. Unlike the Faiz gear which merely rejects an unqualified user, the Kaixa system carries a lethal flaw. While Orphnochs themselves can use the belt safely, any human attempting to transform must have Orphnoch因子 implanted within them. Even with this factor, if the individual is not strong enough, the belt drains their life energy, causing their body to crumble into sand upon detransformation. This fate befell several of the Ryusei School students before the belt found its primary user.
The central figure associated with Kamen Rider Kaixa is Masato Kusaka. Unlike the previous victims, Kusaka possessed an unusually strong concentration of Orphnoch因子, granting him the resilience to use the belt repeatedly without immediate fatal consequences. Kusaka is a complex and deeply flawed individual. Growing up as a weak, bullied child at the Ryusei School orphanage, he was forever changed when he was saved by Mari Sonoda during a traumatic attack. This event forged an obsessive, possessive attachment to her, which is the primary driver of his actions. Outwardly a capable and charismatic university student, inwardly he is manipulative, calculating, and willing to lie and deceive to achieve his goals of protecting what he sees as his.
His role in the story is defined by his interpersonal conflicts. He immediately clashes with Takumi Inui, the primary user of the Faiz gear, harboring resentment for Takumi's closeness to Mari and what Kusaka perceives as an unearned power. Similarly, he despises Yuji Kiba, a kind-hearted Orphnoch for whom Mari develops affection, purely because of his species and his threat to Kusaka's designs on Mari. Kusaka repeatedly schemes against both, at one point stealing the Faiz belt and framing Takumi for an attack on Yuji. Despite this antagonism, his hatred for the Orphnochs is absolute, forcing a tense and unstable alliance with Takumi when the situation demands it.
As the story progresses, the curse of the Kaixa belt becomes an inescapable physical manifestation of Kusaka's own self-destruction. The constant strain of transforming begins to deplete his Orphnoch因子, leading his body to gradually show signs of calcification. In a final confrontation, he is cornered by multiple enemies, loses his belt, and is ultimately killed by a transformed Yuji Kiba, who briefly uses the Kaixa gear himself.
In terms of combat abilities, the Kaixa user accesses the suit via the Kaixa Phone (SB-913P), which is inserted into the Kaixa Driver belt after inputting the code 913. The primary weapon is the Kaixa Blaygun (SB-913X), a versatile X-shaped device that switches between a gun mode, firing high-energy bullets, and a sword mode that emits high heat. The user also equips the Kaixa Shot (SB-913C), a camera-shaped knuckleduster for a powerful punch known as the Great Impact, and the Kaixa Pointer (SB-913B), a binocular-shaped device attached to the leg to deliver the rider kick finisher, Gold Smash, which has a destructive force of 23.5 tons. These tools make Kaixa a formidable front-line fighter, whose raw power is balanced only by the mortal risk its very use presents to the person wearing the armor.
