Description
Larry Markusson is a high-ranking Trident Corporation executive. Trident originated as a NATO research division before becoming an independent, renegade private entity. Under Markusson's leadership, it secured funding from Campbell Company, Clovers Heavy Industries, and the Takasumi Zaibatsu, developing a significant military wing with regular soldiers and genetically enhanced super-soldiers.
He leveraged military assets for Trident's goals, spearheading the recruitment of specialized combatants like Bowman (Yu Ominae's former instructor) and Rick Bordeau (Jean Jacquemonde's father) to eliminate ARCAM's Spriggan agents. Markusson commandeered the U.S. military's COSMOS unit, integrating them into Trident's special forces. He deployed this unit on missions in Japan targeting defectors Iwao Akatsuki and Bo Brantz, and adversaries Yu Ominae and Jean Jacquemonde. Directed telepathically through subordinate Sho Kanaya, these missions failed, culminating in the COSMOS leader's suicide during an attempted grenade attack on Yu.
Markusson personally oversaw critical operations, including the plundering of advanced technology from the resurfacing Phantom Island. Stationed aboard a U.S. Navy vessel, he ordered Bowman to retrieve an ancient Message Plate. This led Bowman to take Yoshino Somei hostage to force Yu Ominae's surrender of the artifact, resulting in Bowman's death after confronting Yu.
He later collaborated covertly with ARCAM's Henry Garnum to excavate out-of-place artifacts in the South Pole. This partnership nearly erupted into physical conflict with Jean Jacquemonde, prevented by Director Yamamoto's intervention. Markusson's actions during the "Fire Snake" artifact excavation, aided by Rie Yamabishi and Professor Mayzel, threatened global destruction. He was thwarted by a coalition of Yu, Jean, and Iwao Akatsuki, with Oboro and Takashi Ominae disabling Trident's reinforcements. After the mission failed, Iwao Akatsuki prevented Markusson's helicopter escape and assisted him post-evacuation, leaving Markusson's Trident affiliation unresolved.
Physically depicted with black hair and a male gender presentation, his authority within Trident granted him access to multinational military resources, reflecting his focus on acquiring and weaponizing ancient alien relics for corporate clients.
