Description
Hannah Whitehouse, known as Cure White in her transformed state, is one of the main heroines and a foundational character in the Pretty Cure series. She is a middle school student who lives in a large house with her grandmother, Sanae, and her dog, Chuutaro, as her parents work overseas and are often away from home. Despite her affluent family background, Hannah maintains a humble and grounded demeanor. She is an exceptional student, consistently ranking at the top of her class and is widely recognized by her peers with nicknames such as The Queen of Knowledge or The Queen of Intelligence. Her academic passion lies in science, and she is a committed member of her school’s science club, which she eventually leads as president.

Hannah possesses a calm and gentle personality, often serving as the composed and rational counterbalance to her more impulsive best friend and partner. She is deeply kind, understanding, and selfless, frequently putting the needs of others before her own. Her intellectual curiosity drives her to seek the truth and understand the nature of things, a trait that extends into her life as a Pretty Cure. While she is generally soft-spoken, she can be surprisingly strict when she encounters laziness or a lack of effort, pushing others to complete their tasks because she cares about their growth. She is widely admired by boys at her school, but she shows little to no interest in romantic relationships, instead valuing her close friendships deeply.

Her initial motivation for becoming a Pretty Cure stems from her innate sense of curiosity and a desire to protect others, contrasting with a partner who is initially more reluctant. Throughout the story, her primary role is to act as the strategic core of the team, using her intelligence to analyze situations and devise plans in combat. A defining aspect of her character is her powerful bond with her partner. Their relationship begins from a place of mutual distance but grows into an unbreakable friendship and a perfectly synchronized fighting team. Hannah cherishes this connection and is fiercely protective of her friend and her loved ones, such as her partner’s younger brother. Beyond her central partnership, she develops significant relationships with others, including a boy named Kiriya from the antagonistic Dark Zone. She shows him kindness and tries to teach him about human emotions, experiencing profound sadness when their circumstances force them to fight. In later story arcs, she also takes on a nurturing, older-sister-like role towards a younger teammate, protecting and guiding her with compassion.

Hannah undergoes subtle but meaningful development, transitioning from a socially reserved girl with few friends to someone whose emotional bonds give her strength. Her arc involves navigating loss and learning to mature while retaining her core intelligence and empathy. As an adult, she pursues her childhood dream of becoming a scientist, aiming to contribute to the world on a grand scale while still holding her values close.

As Cure White, she represents the Emissary of Light and embodies themes of intelligence, grace, and truth. Her costume is primarily white with blue accents. In combat, she is agile and swift, utilizing graceful martial arts techniques and judo-like throws to redirect an opponent’s power against them rather than relying on brute force. She acts as the tactical brains during fights, often analyzing an enemy's weakness. While she cannot perform finishing moves alone, she initiates powerful combination attacks with Cure Black, most notably the Marble Screw, where she unleashes a torrent of white energy. As the pair receives power-ups, they gain access to enhanced attacks like the Marble Screw Max and the Rainbow Storm. With the addition of a third teammate, she also participates in team-based purification attacks, demonstrating her ability to coordinate seamlessly in a group. Over various crossover appearances, she continues to represent the calm, strategic, and deeply reliable warrior who fights with the power of light and enduring friendship.
