TV-Series
Description
Guardiano delle Pietre prismatiche is a supporting character from the first two television series of the Pretty Cure franchise, known in the original Japanese version as Futari wa Pretty Cure and Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart. This character is typically referred to simply as the Guardian or the Guardian of the Stones, as his role as the keeper of the Prism Stones is his primary identity throughout most of the story. His true name, Wisdom, is revealed only once, spoken by the antagonist Ilkubo, and is seldom used otherwise.

The Guardian resides within the Prism Hopish, which is the source of power for the Garden of Light and light for the entire universe. For most of the first season, he lives in a parallel world, emerging only when the heroines, the Pretty Cure, recover one of the scattered Prism Stones. His purpose is to safeguard the stones within the heart-shaped Prism Hopish, ensuring that their power cannot be misused by the forces of the Dark Zone. He is the only being capable of directly calling upon and transferring the power of creation that emanates from the Prism Stones. He is also the one who provides the magical diaries that help the heroines strengthen their bond, as these diaries require a special magnifying glass to be read, a tool that reveals text only to those connected to the Garden of Light.

Throughout the narrative, the Guardian plays a crucial role as an ally to the Pretty Cure, Nagisa Misumi and Honoka Yukishiro. He appears to them at key moments, often when a Prism Stone is secured, to offer guidance or perform his duty of protecting the artifact. Despite his power, he is vulnerable. The antagonists of the Dark Zone, seeking the Prism Stones' power for themselves, manage to capture him on multiple occasions. During one such capture, the villain Ilkubo discovers the Guardian's secret and learns how to call upon the power of creation for evil purposes. In another significant event, he is imprisoned in a cage with a parrot by the servants of the Dark King and attempts a daring escape. This leads to a moment where the heroines must rescue him, highlighting that while he holds great knowledge and authority, he is not a combatant and often requires protection.

A key development for the Guardian involves his relationship with the character Porun, a young prince from the Garden of Light. Foreseeing the danger he and the Prism Stones are in, the Guardian transfers the entire power of creation from the stones into Porun. This act is performed to keep the power safe, as it would be less expected to reside within a child-like being. As a result of this transfer, Porun gains new abilities and grants the Pretty Cure a more powerful attack known as the Pretty Cure Rainbow Storm. Following this, the Guardian is captured by the new seeds of the Dark King, but the power he entrusted to Porun remains a crucial asset for the heroines in their final battles.

In the second season, Pretty Cure Max Heart, the Guardian lives in the Garden of Light, staying close to the Prism Hopish and the seat of the Queen's power. He is seen there alongside the Elder, the leader of the Garden's council. When the Queen of Light vanishes, it is the Guardian and the Elder who travel to the human world, known as the Garden of Rainbows, to request the help of Nagisa and Honoka. After the emergence of a new warrior, Shiny Luminous, the Guardian returns to the Hill of Light to keep watch over the Prism Hopish, fearing further attempts to steal its power. Throughout the season, he remains in this position, acting as a vigilant sentinel waiting for the Queen's eventual return and discussing the unfolding events with the Elder. His primary ability is his guardianship, which includes summoning and channeling the primal power of creation. While he does not engage in physical combat, his knowledge of the Prism Stones and the history of the Garden of Light makes him an invaluable source of information and a foundational pillar in the fight against the darkness.
