TV-Series
Description
Gekidrago is a villain from the first season of the Pretty Cure series, serving as the second major antagonist to be sent to the human world by the Dark King after the defeat of Pisard. He hails from the Dusk Zone and appears as a large, monstrously muscular man with silver, spiky hair, white blank eyes, and a fierce expression. His typical outfit consists of a white sleeveless shirt held up by red suspenders, caramel-colored pants, and silver shoes and bracelets.

In terms of personality, Gekidrago is defined by his overwhelming reliance on physical strength and his deficiency in strategic thinking. He is easily enraged and violent, preferring to solve problems through brute force rather than cunning plans. This lack of intelligence often leads him into traps and makes him prone to being tricked by others. Despite his short temper, he possesses remarkable fortitude and durability, capable of withstanding powerful attacks that would defeat lesser opponents.

Gekidrago's primary motivation is to serve the Dark King by retrieving the Prism Stones and defeating the Pretty Cures. He volunteers eagerly for the mission, driven by a desire to prove his strength. Unlike some of his colleagues who possess inanimate objects, Gekidrago notably prefers to summon his Zakenna minions into living creatures, such as a bear, or into people, like a school vice principal, to do his bidding.

His role in the story is that of a direct physical threat who appears across several episodes with a singular focus on overpowering the heroines. He initiates attacks at various locations, including a lakeside, Verone Academy, a jewelry shop, and an aquarium. In one notable scheme, he captures the fairy Mepple, but is tricked into returning him by Nagisa, who claims she needs to heal the fairy’s illness. Another strategy involves him trying to drain the energy of others through cursed plush toys. His most desperate attack occurs at an aquarium, where he consumes all the water in a pool to transform himself into a fearsome shark and eel hybrid, claiming it as his final form.

Key relationships define his interactions with the main characters, Cure Black and Cure White. He constantly demands they not ignore him during battles, showing a need for acknowledgment. In a pivotal moment during his final battle, he attacks Ryouta, Nagisa’s younger brother. This act of harming a civilian provokes a furious retaliation from the Cures, leading to his ultimate defeat as he is purified and returned to the darkness from which he came.

Regarding development, Gekidrago shows little capacity for learning or growth. He repeatedly falls for the same types of deceptions from the Cures, such as when Honoka distracts him by claiming the Prism Stones are hidden in a jewelry store, leading him to search through every pile of gems while she summons help. His trajectory is one of escalating aggression rather than strategic evolution, culminating in a final, powerful transformation that still fails to secure him victory.

Gekidrago possesses notable abilities centered on his immense physical prowess. His most distinctive trait is his extreme durability, as he can survive a direct hit from the Pretty Cures' powerful finishing move, the Marble Screw, and only be knocked unconscious for a few minutes rather than be destroyed outright. He is also capable of merging with his own Zakenna creations to increase his power and can use dark energy to physically transform his body into a more powerful combat form.
