TV-Series
Description
Anzu Shiina is a young witch and a junior high school student who lives near the Kuramoto house, the primary setting of the story. She is the daughter of the owner of a unique café that is ordinarily invisible and inaccessible to non-magical people. Anzu is a girl of short stature, standing approximately 150 centimeters tall, with pale skin, waist-length blonde hair featuring bangs swept to the left, and bright blue eyes.

In terms of personality, Anzu is generally soft-spoken, reserved, and notably more composed than the series' protagonist, Makoto. Her calm and somewhat subdued demeanor often serves as a quiet counterbalance to Makoto's lively enthusiasm. Despite her reserved nature, she possesses a deep and passionate interest in archaeology and history. This interest forms a core part of her character, as she becomes visibly excited and energetic when encountering old buildings, ancient objects, or anything with historical significance.

Anzu works as a waitress at her mother's café, Concrucio, helping to serve the establishment's eclectic clientele, which includes ghosts and various other magical beings. Her role in the story is that of a supporting character who introduces the main cast to new facets of the magical world, particularly through her family's café. She is portrayed as being very knowledgeable, both about her academic interests and the customs of the supernatural regulars she serves.

Her key relationships are centered on her family and her new acquaintances. She works alongside her mother, the café's master, and a friendly ghost who also assists with the招待. The dynamic between Anzu and her mother is notable for their strong physical resemblance, which leads to a humorous misunderstanding when Makoto first meets them. Anzu also forms a connection with the protagonist, Makoto Kowata, and her cousin, Chinatsu. While Makoto’s general cheerfulness is initially met with Anzu’s more experienced and reserved reactions, the two become friends who share experiences in the witch community.

Regarding her development, Anzu is portrayed as already quite competent and knowledgeable within her environment. Rather than undergoing a dramatic personal transformation, her role is to facilitate moments of wonder and discovery for the audience and the main characters. She demonstrates a quiet pride in her family's business and a mature sense of responsibility.

Anzu possesses several notable abilities as a witch. Her most distinctive magical trait is a family gift for spirit-based magic. She comes from a line with strong spiritual abilities and is able to use special passageways that are intended for ghosts. She employs this unique method of transportation to commute to her school in the distant city of Yokohama. Like other witches, she also has a familiar, a brown owl named Aurore. Her passion for archaeology, while not a magical power, is a defining skill that drives her motivations and actions throughout the series.
