OVA
Description
Izo Hakamada is a third-year high school student and a former member of the All-Japan Junior Representatives, holding the rank of No. 14 within the U-17 training camp's first-string lineup. He stands at 186 centimeters tall and weighs 76 kilograms, with a birthday on August 6th and O blood type. As a left-handed player, his playing style is classified as that of a counter puncher, though he is known for being fiercely aggressive on the court.

His personality is extremely combative and ruthless, showing no mercy to opponents even when they have lost the will to fight. This unforgiving nature is a core part of his tennis approach, and he openly dislikes those he considers powerless or weak. He speaks with a distinct Hiroshima dialect, which adds to his intimidating presence. Despite his harsh demeanor, he is a dedicated athlete whose mantra reflects a view of others as odd or strange.

Hakamada is introduced during the U-17 Camp Revolution arc, where he first appears easily defeating a challenger named Chikahiko Matsudaira to defend his badge as a first-stringer. During this match, he attempts to hit a final shot directly at his opponent's face, only for Kintaro Tooyama to intervene and head the ball away, sparking a new challenge. Hakamada accepts Kintaro's challenge for his No. 14 badge, leading to a fierce and violent match where both players sustain significant injuries and bleeding. He initially takes the lead using his signature technique, but eventually loses after his move is countered. In defeat, an injured Hakamada is carried back to the main courts on Kintaro's back, marking a significant upset as a middle schooler claimed his spot among the first string. His loss draws the anger of higher-ranked players, particularly No. 8 Atsukyo Tohno, who strikes the exhausted Hakamada with a fierce shot. Later, Hakamada is seen as a spectator during the subsequent shuffle matches between the middle school players and the Genius 10, notably expressing amazement at the shots of Kintaro, the player who defeated him.

Hakamada's primary motivation appears to be dominance through physical and aggressive tennis, seeking to overpower and hurt his opponents without remorse. His key relationship in the story is with Kintaro Tooyama, who not only defeats him but also carries him back to the courts afterward, creating a complex dynamic between the two rivals. His development is demonstrated through his reaction to this defeat, moving from an aggressive enforcer of the camp's hierarchy to a spectator who can appreciate the skill of the one who beat him.

His most notable ability is a shot called Vanish, which creates a rapid and intense spin upon the ball's landing on the court. This spin kicks up granules from the surface, producing a cloud of dust that obscures the ball from view. In the same instant, the ball shoots upward sharply, similar to a twist serve, aiming directly for the opponent's face and inflicting significant damage if it connects. Beyond this technique, his official stats reflect a player with high power, rated at a 6 out of 7, while his speed, technique, mental fortitude, and stamina are all rated at a 4.
