Their objective was to locate cryptologist Rie Yamabishi, whose expertise in deciphering ancient relics was critical to uncovering the Temple of Fire and securing the Fire Orb—an artifact the Soviet military sought to harness its power to reclaim geopolitical supremacy.

During the mission, Viktor uncovered a betrayal within his ranks: operative Koichi Moroha plotted to seize the Fire Orb, disregarding Soviet directives to pursue personal ambitions. Viktor confronted Koichi to halt the artifact’s unauthorized activation, but their clash turned fatal when Viktor’s biomechanical Tornado Beast weapon malfunctioned, slicing through his torso.

The ensuing activation of the Fire Orb triggered cataclysmic volcanic eruptions from Mount Fuji. Viktor’s mortally wounded body was consumed by molten lava, erasing all physical traces of his demise. His death marked a pivotal moment in the global clandestine war over ancient relics, underscoring the perilous lengths rival powers undertook to weaponize arcane forces.
