Kokopo is a pack animal that serves as the loyal companion and mount of the princess Rurutie in the world of Utawarerumono. Resembling a large, multicolored creature, Kokopo possesses the ability to sense its master's emotions and reacts with strong protectiveness. It is used for traveling long distances and also fights alongside Rurutie in battle, displaying surprising ferocity against enemies. In addition to its combat abilities, Kokopo shows signs of high intelligence, such as understanding complex commands and helping with tasks like carrying burdens. Its distinctive vocalizations are often described as a chirping sound similar to a pigeon mixed with a quail. Throughout the events of The False Faces and its sequel Mask of Truth, Kokopo remains a steadfast presence at Rurutie's side, providing both transportation and emotional support. While its own personality is not deeply explored, its unwavering loyalty and intuitive bond with its master define its role in the story. Notable abilities include emotional empathy, physical strength for hauling, and a protective combat instinct that drives it to neutralize threats to its master. Despite being a non-speaking animal character, Kokopo's consistent devotion and usefulness make it a memorable part of the supporting cast.
