Description
Kōyō Akizuki is the twenty-one-year-old head chef at Café Stile, having joined as one of the opening staff members alongside the manager Dino and waitress Kaho Hinata. He is a young man of average height with dark-green hair, slanted blue eyes with noticeably small pupils, and a frequently unemotional expression that matches his practical, no-nonsense demeanor. He lives alone in an apartment and handles nearly all of the kitchen work single-handedly, preparing the café’s full menu because Dino is often unreliable—especially on weekday mornings, when staying up to watch late-night anime makes the manager useless for anything except Sunday morning programming.

Akizuki’s personality is a blend of diligence and hidden softness. He is serious about his job and does not hesitate to scold Dino or other staff members when they slack off or get distracted, making him the most reliably level-headed person at Stile. Beneath his stern exterior, however, he is a natural tsundere: he acts annoyed or aloof but genuinely cares about his coworkers, as shown when he quietly makes a special parfait to cheer up Kaho. He is also a passionate fan of yuri—the genre of romantic interaction between girls—and finds beauty and mystery in watching female customers or coworkers interact, though he freezes up completely when faced with real-life situations involving women.

His motivations are straightforward: originally, he applied at Stile because it was convenient and would allow him to earn a cook’s license, and he remains dedicated to keeping the kitchen running smoothly. Socially, he is awkward and inexperienced, especially with women. Before working at Stile, his only interactions with girls over a two-year period had been brief conversations at convenience stores, so he struggled to hold a conversation with Kaho when they first met and relied on Dino as a buffer. Over time, he and Kaho develop a mutual but unspoken attraction, bonded by shared interests in video games and late-night gaming sessions at the café after hours.

In his role at Café Stile, Akizuki is the backbone of the operation, handling most of the cooking and managing the kitchen with quiet efficiency. He has no assigned customer-facing “attribute” like the waitresses, but his natural tsundere tendencies and hidden enthusiasm for yuri occasionally come to light—such as when he becomes visibly excited watching Kaho and Maika feed each other dessert. He is also a devoted fan of the fictional idol group Hanazono Folder.

Throughout the story, Akizuki shows modest but meaningful development. His initial terror of women gradually softens into comfortable banter with Kaho, and he learns to express his feelings in small, roundabout ways—like complimenting her appearance indirectly. He remains somewhat introverted and uncomfortable with outdoor activities, preferring to stay inside and play games, but he is capable of enjoying group outings once he warms up. His notable abilities include strong culinary skills, a dependable work ethic, and a surprising capacity for gentleness that he rarely displays openly.
