Description
Akari Sawake, nicknamed Gekkō-chan, is a high school student who dives deep into the world of ASMR after acquiring a dummy-head microphone. Her journey starts with a personal mission: to reconnect with an estranged childhood friend (the unseen viewer) whose newfound ASMR interest offers a bridge across their years of distance. She actively explores diverse ASMR techniques and sound sources, experimenting with bamboo and titanium earpicks, wind chimes, cicadas, ice manipulation, carbonated water fizz, baby cotton swabs, cream application, squeeze toys, and electric earpicks. Each episode typically features her tackling a new ASMR concept, demonstrating her dedication to mastering the craft.

Her passion ripples outward. Classmate Shūsui Kagami approaches ASMR seeking friendship with Gekkō-chan. At home, her sister Hikari Sawake finds calm in traditional coffee grinding sounds, while her mother Udoku Sawake and sister discover the dummy-head microphone, leading to their own ASMR encounters. Gekkō-chan also navigates lighthearted competition from her childhood friend's younger sisters, Nanako and Kanako, who view her ASMR as a rival for their brother's attention and attempt their own ASMR to win him back. Shūsui Kagami's father, Jirō, with his background as a former bartender, joins her social circle through the shared ASMR trend.

Gekkō-chan persists in refining her skills, driven by the desire to mend the relationship with her childhood friend. Her journey encompasses both the technical mastery of specialized equipment and diverse triggers, and the interpersonal aspects of forming new bonds, involving her family, and managing playful rivalries. Later episodes culminate in multiple characters—family, classmates, and rival sisters—coming together, reflecting the broad impact of her initial ASMR pursuit.
