Description
Fuwa is the Supreme Kai, or界王神, of the 6th universe in the animated series Dragon Ball Super. He is a green-skinned, overweight being of the Core Person race, with tall, spiky white hair that grows in a distinct ridge along the center of his head. As a Supreme Kai, he wears a variation of the official godly attire, consisting of a magenta tunic with yellow trim, a light blue sash, and dark green Potara earrings.
Fuwa possesses a personality that blends a calm,沉稳 and温和 gentle nature with notable laziness and absentmindedness. He is somewhat slow and often appears nervous or flustered, especially when dealing with unexpected situations. When first introduced, he is surprised that a mortal, Goku, would speak so casually to a deity, suggesting that mortals in his own universe behave with more deference. During the Tournament of Destroyers, he displayed a tendency to bicker with the elder Kai from the 7th universe and acted somewhat cocky about his own team’s abilities. However, he also hides a fiery, competitive side, which emerged when he began energetically and loudly cheering for the fused warrior Kefla during the Tournament of Power, a display that surprised the other gods.
Fuwa’s primary role is to maintain the balance of creation alongside his universe’s destroyer, with whom he shares a vital life link. This connection means that the death of one will directly cause the death of the other, a mechanism that ensures equilibrium between the forces of creation and destruction. His key relationship is with the 6th universe destroyer, Champa. Their dynamic is one of symbiotic necessity, though Fuwa often delegates stressful tasks to Champa, such as the recruitment of warriors for the Tournament of Power, a duty Fuwa was relieved to avoid. He also has a key relationship with his unnamed attendant who accompanies him during major events. In a dark alternate future timeline, Fuwa was killed by the villainous Goku Black and Zamasu, an event which directly led to the death of Champa and the subsequent dormancy of their universe’s angel.
Fuwa’s development in the story is subtle but present. He first appears as a spectator during the tournament between the 6th and 7th universes, where he observes Goku’s joyful fighting style with amazement. His most significant role is during the Universe Survival saga, where he accompanies his universe’s team to the Tournament of Power. He watches his warriors fight valiantly until the last of them are eliminated, at which point he resignedly accepts his fate. He is subsequently erased from existence alongside Champa and the rest of his universe. After the 7th universe wins the tournament, Android 17 uses the Super Dragon Balls to wish for all erased universes to be restored, bringing Fuwa and his universe back to life.
As a Supreme Kai, Fuwa possesses several notable abilities. He is significantly more powerful than ordinary mortals and lower-ranked kais, able to fly and use ki-based attacks. He has access to the divine technique Kai Kai, which allows him to instantly teleport himself and others across vast distances, even between different universes. As a god of creation, he also possesses the power of magic materialization, allowing him to create physical objects from nothing. His Potara earrings not only signify his rank but also possess the ability to fuse two individuals when worn on the correct ears. Fuwa’s life is also directly linked to Champa’s, a divine rule that maintains balance in their universe but also makes them vulnerable to a shared death.
