Description
Conan's grandfather is an elderly man living on a remote remnant island in a post-apocalyptic world. He is not related to Conan by blood but is the boy's adoptive grandfather and sole guardian. He was originally a member of a spaceship crew that attempted to escape a devastating global war, only for the ship to crash-land on the small island where they found refuge. Over time, all the other survivors passed away, leaving the old man to raise the orphaned Conan alone from infancy. He is estimated to be 64 years old and is believed to have had a former career as an air force officer, given his knowledge of piloting spacecraft and operating complex military hardware like missile launchers.

His personality is defined by a deep, weary wisdom born from witnessing the collapse of civilization. He is a kind and patient caretaker, having successfully raised an exceptionally strong and pure-hearted boy like Conan in isolation. He possesses a quiet but firm resilience and a strong moral compass. His primary motivation is the protection and future well-being of Conan. Knowing the tragedy that aggressive and thoughtless action can bring, he instills in Conan values of cooperation and kindness. While he lives a simple life on the island, he retains a critical awareness of the past, believing that the old world's destructive way of thinking was what led to global catastrophe.

In the story, his role is both the inciting force and the emotional foundation for the entire narrative. Despite his age, he bravely attempts to defend Conan and a young girl named Lana when soldiers from the industrial city of Industria arrive to abduct her. He confronts them, armed, and questions their violent intentions, but he is mortally wounded when a soldier's bullet strikes his weapon. As he lays dying, his most crucial act is delivering a final will to Conan. He urges the boy not to stay on the island alone but to go out into the world, find Lana, and discover other people, emphasizing that humans are not meant to live in solitude. His death serves as the catalyst for Conan's entire journey.

His key relationship is exclusively with Conan. Although they share no blood, their bond is one of deep familial love and mutual respect. He acts as Conan's only link to the lost world and its history before the war. He has no other direct relationships within the story's present timeline, as he dies before meeting other major characters like Lana or the people of Industria. However, later in the series, Conan encounters an elderly resident of Industria's underground who bears a striking resemblance to his grandfather, a visual echo that provides a moment of bittersweet reflection for Conan.

Development for this character is limited to his death scene, where he transitions from a simple survivor to a heroic martyr whose dying wish shapes the future. His legacy is the moral and practical foundation he provided for Conan. Regarding notable abilities, his primary skills are his practical knowledge of pre-catastrophe technology, specifically his ability to pilot a spaceship and operate a rocket launcher. His most significant ability, however, is his wisdom and his success in raising a child alone in a harsh environment, nurturing in Conan the strength, agility, and untainted innocence that define the protagonist.
