Description
Andróide #13 is a fictional character from the 1992 anime film Dragon Ball Z: Super Android 13! He is an artificial human created by the scientist Dr. Gero as part of a trio of androids designed for a single purpose. After Dr. Gero is killed by his own creations, Androids 17 and 18, an underground supercomputer containing his consciousness continues his work. This computer completes the development of Androids 13, 14, and 15, activating them to carry out Gero's ultimate revenge: the death of the Saiyan warrior Goku.

In his initial form, Android 13 has the appearance of a muscular human male, which contrasts with the more robotic or unusual designs of his companions. He typically wears a vest bearing the Red Ribbon Army logo, the organization Gero once served. Among the three androids, he acts as the leader and is the most articulate, speaking with clarity and authority about his mission. He is direct and unwavering, showing no hesitation or doubt in his purpose. He believes anyone who interferes with his objective deserves to be destroyed. His personality, especially in the original Japanese version, is cold and focused, defined entirely by his programming to kill Goku. After transforming, he becomes a more feral and silent brute, losing his ability to speak and acting purely on destructive instinct.

Android 13's sole motivation is to execute the revenge of Dr. Gero. He is not driven by personal ambition or a desire for power, but by a programmed mission to eliminate Goku for destroying the Red Ribbon Army years prior. He arrives on the battlefield with Androids 14 and 15, immediately engaging Goku and the other Z-Fighters. He fights Goku directly, proving to be a formidable opponent even against the Super Saiyan transformation. His key relationships are functional; he commands Androids 14 and 15, using them as support in the battle. When these two are destroyed by Vegeta and Future Trunks, Android 13 activates his primary ability: absorption. He takes the energy reactor and computer chips from the defeated androids, incorporating them into his own body.

This absorption triggers a dramatic transformation into Super Android 13. In this state, his size increases significantly, his skin turns a deep blue with grey plating on his torso, his hair becomes a bright orange and stands on end, and his eyes lose their pupils, becoming solid yellow. As Super Android 13, his power multiplies enormously, allowing him to effortlessly overwhelm Vegeta, Future Trunks, and Piccolo simultaneously. His development in the story is this singular evolution; he does not grow emotionally but becomes a greater physical threat, representing the final and most powerful design of Dr. Gero's supercomputer.

In terms of abilities, Android 13 is an infinite energy model, meaning he does not tire and can fight indefinitely without needing to recharge. He is a skilled hand-to-hand combatant capable of trading blows with Super Saiyans. His signature technique is the S.S. Deadly Bomber, a large, homing red energy sphere that is powerful enough to destroy half a planet. In his super form, his physical strength and durability are vastly increased, making him nearly invincible until Goku employs a unique strategy. After Goku absorbs the energy of the Spirit Bomb into his own Super Saiyan body, his power eclipses Super Android 13. A single, decisive punch from Goku is enough to pierce through the android's torso, destroying him completely and ending the threat of Dr. Gero's computer once and for all.
