Description
Gokua is a fictional character from the Dragon Ball Z film Bojack Unbound, where he serves as one of the primary antagonists. He is a member of the Galaxy Soldiers, a group of space pirates led by the tyrant Bojack. Gokua hails from the Hera clan, making him a member of the same powerful alien race as his fellow crew members Bojack, Bido, Bujin, and Zangya. His past is largely unknown, but it is established that he and the rest of Bojack's gang were eventually sealed away by the Kaiō (Supreme Kai) before the events of the film. His name is derived from the Japanese word gokuakuhidō, which means heinous or inhuman, a theme consistent with his character.

In terms of personality, Gokua embodies the cruel and merciless nature typical of the Galaxy Soldiers. He is depicted as a heinous warrior who has no qualms about killing, shown when he attacks the participants of the Intergalactic World Tournament without provocation and completely disregards the event's rules, most notably by using a sword. Arrogance is his defining trait. Gokua is highly overconfident in his own abilities and derives clear enjoyment from battle, often smirking and taunting his opponents when he has the upper hand. This overconfidence ultimately proves to be his fatal flaw, as he prefers to toy with his enemy rather than finish them off swiftly, a decision that costs him his life. His motivations are simple and align with the rest of Bojack's crew: to serve his leader, spread chaos, and prove his strength as a warrior.

Within the story of Bojack Unbound, Gokua's primary role is to act as a direct adversary for Future Trunks. After Bojack's seal is broken, the Galaxy Soldiers travel to Earth and infiltrate a martial arts tournament. Gokua is the first of Bojack's henchmen to engage in a significant fight, specifically targeting Trunks. This matchup is notable because both characters are skilled swordsmen, creating a thematic rivalry. Gokua's key relationships are entirely with his fellow Galaxy Soldiers. He operates as a loyal subordinate to Bojack and fights alongside his comrades Bido, Bujin, and Zangya. There is no indication of any internal conflict or development among the group; their bond is that of a unified, villainous team.

Gokua does not undergo any significant character development, as his role is limited to that of a one-movie antagonist. His primary function is to demonstrate the threat level of the Galaxy Soldiers before being defeated. His most notable ability is a powerful racial transformation similar to Bojack's. In his base form, Gokua has blue skin, red hair tied back, and wears a black vest with purple and red accents. By accessing his Full Power, his skin turns a darker shade of greenish-blue, his hair spikes up and turns white, and his musculature becomes significantly more bulky and pronounced. In this transformed state, he quickly overpowers Future Trunks, who is fighting at his base power level.

Beyond his transformation, Gokua is a formidable physical combatant possessing super strength, super speed, and the ability to fly. His primary fighting style revolves around swordsmanship, and he wields a long sword with a three-pronged guard, which he has named the Devilish Blade. He is left-handed. In terms of ki manipulation, Gokua can fire standard ki blasts and one of his more powerful energy attacks is called the Full-Powered Energy Ball. Despite his impressive abilities and transformation, Gokua is ultimately outmatched when Future Trunks transforms into a Super Saiyan. Trunks easily blocks Gokua's sword, shattering the blade, and kills him with a single, fatal punch that pierces through his chest. After his death, Gokua makes a brief cameo appearance alongside other past villains in the subsequent film, Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn, when the residents of Hell escape to Earth.
