Description
Pikkon, known as Paikuhan in the original Japanese version, is a warrior of the afterlife who appears in Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn. He is a tall, muscular humanoid with green skin, a bald head marked with black spots, flat square-shaped ears, thick pink lips, large red eyes, and no visible nose, standing a few inches taller than Goku. He is established as the strongest warrior of the West Galaxy, and he earned the rare privilege of keeping his physical body after death so that he could continue training in the Other World under the guidance of the West Kai.
Personality-wise, Pikkon is calm, disciplined, and highly analytical in battle. He rarely shows emotion, never underestimates his opponents, and fights with full commitment. He is a wise fighter who studies his opponents and plans his attacks carefully, and he is not above offering technical advice to others, such as pointing out flaws in Goku's dodging and concentration. Though he is initially quiet and speaks very little, he gradually opens up during his encounters with Goku. His motivation is rooted in personal improvement and in defending the balance of the Other World, and his actions in the movie reflect a strong sense of duty and selflessness.
In Fusion Reborn, Pikkon participates in a new Other World Tournament and advances to the final round by defeating Arqua. His scheduled final match against Goku is interrupted when the demon Janemba appears, traps King Yemma, and transforms much of the Other World into a crystalline landscape. Pikkon uses his powerful voice to shatter the crystal barriers imprisoning the Check In Station, and then works to hold off Janemba, buying Goku and Vegeta the time they need to perform the Fusion Dance and become Gogeta. Although Janemba's power exceeds his own, his willingness to act as a distraction contributes to the movie's resolution.
Pikkon's key relationship in the movie is with Goku. The two warriors develop a strong mutual respect through their interrupted rivalry, and Pikkon acts as a dependable ally during the crisis. His ties to the Other World hierarchy, particularly his position under the West Kai, place him among the most accomplished fighters of the afterlife, and his later appearances show him battling alongside allies such as Olibu.
In terms of abilities, Pikkon's strength is depicted as at least comparable to Goku's full-power Super Saiyan form. In earlier Other World Tournament events he defeats Frieza and King Cold with a single hit each and easily overpowers Cell. His fighting style combines extreme speed with tactical precision, and he typically wears heavy weighted clothing and a white turban that suppress his speed until he faces a worthy opponent. He can fly, move at high speed, and fire ki blasts, including rapid successive shots. His signature techniques are Pikkon's Whirlwind, in which he spins his body to generate a tornado strong enough to cut and wound Goku, and the Thunder Flash Attack, a powerful flaming shockwave fired from a half-crouching stance that is capable of destroying an entire tournament arena, though it leaves him vulnerable to a counterattack while charging.
