Description
Olong, more widely known as Oolong in most versions of the Dragon Ball franchise, is the anthropomorphic shapeshifting pig who appears as a supporting character in Dragon Ball Movie 3: Mystical Adventure. He is small and plump, with pale pink skin, a pig-like face, and a habit of dressing in human clothing such as trousers, a button-down shirt, and suspenders.
His background is established through his earlier adventures. Oolong is an animal-type Earthling with the natural ability to change his appearance. He once trained at the Southern Shapeshifter School, where he was a classmate of Puar, but he was expelled after stealing a female teacher's underwear. Before joining the main characters, he used his transformation ability to disguise himself as a giant ogre and terrorize a small village, demanding that the villagers surrender their young daughters. Son Goku discovered the trick, defeated him, and forced him to release the girls and apologize. Bulma then recruited him for the Dragon Ball quest, reasoning that his shapeshifting would be useful, and he later took up residence at Capsule Corporation in West City.
In Mystical Adventure, Oolong serves as part of Bulma's group, which also includes Launch and Puar. The four of them are independently searching for the six Dragon Balls that Bulma has not yet gathered, with the plan of summoning the eternal dragon so that Bulma can wish for a boyfriend. Their search leads them to the palace of Emperor Chiaotzu in the country of Mifan, where the remaining Dragon Balls are located. However, when the group attempts to seize them, the Dragon Balls are accidentally dropped into the moat surrounding the castle, ending their chances of completing the collection. In another account of the film's events, the group is ambushed by Master Shen and his guards when they try to grab the balls from the palace. In either telling, Oolong's role is confined to this secondary storyline, and he never takes part in the martial arts tournament or the major battles that drive the film's main plot.
Personality-wise, Oolong is lazy, cowardly, and self-indulgent. He has a constant interest in attractive women, prefers comfort and safety over risk, and frequently tries to avoid danger or slip away from difficult situations. He is not genuinely evil; his early behavior as a village menace was opportunistic rather than cruel, and with his companions he acts like an unwilling participant who nevertheless comes through when needed.
His motivations are largely selfish. He is moved by personal comfort, self-preservation, and his interest in women rather than by the noble goals of the group. In the film, he goes along with Bulma's Dragon Ball hunt without much enthusiasm and is content to stay on the sidelines when actual fighting breaks out.
Oolong's key relationships are with Bulma, the leader of the group he travels with and the person whose household he lives in; with Puar, his former classmate from shapeshifter school, whose discipline and skill contrast with his own sloppiness; and with Goku, the boy who defeated him and later became his friend.
