Sho Kamui is a human/Dinosaur Man hybrid created by the Dinosaur Empire through an experiment using Emperor Gore's genetic material. His human mother was kidnapped and artificially impregnated. While other hybrid experiments died young, Kamui developed healthily, exhibiting enhanced traits. After the Empire's defeat, Professor Han spared Kamui and his mother from disposal. Emperor Gore III initially permitted them to live but grew paranoid about Kamui's claim to the throne. Hayato Jin later negotiated Kamui's transfer to the Saotome Institute for protection and training as a Getter pilot.

Physically, Kamui possesses a human build with short blond hair and distinct reptilian features. Scales mark his cheeks, nose, and forehead, the latter forming a crown-like pattern similar to Gore III. His red eyes create an unnatural appearance, often causing human discomfort. He is typically clad in the Saotome Institute's standard pilot suit.

Kamui projects cold professionalism and suppresses emotions. He strictly adheres to orders and shows little tolerance for neglected duties. Pervasive discrimination, where institute personnel view him as a "monster," fuels this aloofness and mutual estrangement. He reacts violently to prolonged staring or questions about his heritage, brutally retaliating. However, he holds a profound attachment to his human mother, desiring a peaceful life with her. His interactions with teammates Takuma Nagare and Baku Yamagishi start strained, evolving into effective but emotionally distant cooperation. In the anime, he displays quicker anger and forms closer bonds with Gettersaurus pilots, allies in his coup against Gore III.

Kamui exhibits superhuman physicality: strength five times greater than an average human, heightened speed, agility, and heat resistance. His hybrid nature grants significant tolerance to Getter Rays, though extreme exposure incapacitates him. An exceptional pilot, he was initially deemed the only candidate capable of solo-piloting Getter Arc and later piloted the advanced BUG without difficulty. He also demonstrates strong leadership and political acumen, ultimately leveraging these to seize control of the Dinosaur Empire.

Kamui's journey undergoes profound ideological shifts. During a mission to the future, witnessing humanity's Getter Emperor-dominated future and dinosaurkind's extinction, coupled with encountering the Hyakki Empire's remnants, solidifies his belief that Getter Rays threaten dinosaur survival. He accepts the weapon BUG from Carter McDonald to eradicate Getter and ensure dinosaur survival. This decision culminates in betrayal of the Saotome Institute and a coup against Gore III, whom he replaces as the Dinosaur Empire's de facto ruler. In the anime, his defeat by Getter Dragon results in imprisonment on Mars. The story concludes with Takuma and Baku freeing him to confront Getter Ten, symbolizing their shared defiance against predestined annihilation.
