Description
Piccoro is the name used for the character Piccolo in the Speedy dub, a Malaysian-produced English adaptation of the Dragon Ball Z films, and he appears under this name in Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge. In this version of the story, he is a Namek, a member of an extraterrestrial humanoid race, and the reincarnation of the villain Digimo. After Digimo was defeated by the warrior Sangoku, Piccoro was born from him and inherited Digimo's memories, including the events of that defeat.
His origins shape his personality. Piccoro carries the memories of his predecessor and initially holds a desire for revenge against Sangoku, but he lacks Digimo's evil nature. Because of this, he comes across as a proud and serious rival rather than a truly wicked figure. His motivation is rooted in that inherited sense of rivalry and in proving himself, but he gradually becomes more focused on discipline, strength, and the protection of others, especially through his role as the master of Son Gohan, whom he trains as a student.
In Cooler's Revenge, Piccoro is one of the fighters who stands against the new threat arriving on Earth. When Cooler, the brother of Frieza, sends his henchmen after Sangoku and a large battle breaks out, Piccoro takes part in the fighting and directly confronts Cooler. His presence in the battle shows how far he has moved from his original position as Sangoku's enemy, as he now fights alongside his former rival to defend the planet.
His key relationships include his rivalry with Sangoku, which turns into an alliance; his bond with Son Gohan, whom he takes under his wing and trains with great seriousness; and his connection to Digimo, whose memories and legacy he carries within him. These relationships define his development from a vengeful reincarnation into a dependable ally and mentor.
As a Namek, Piccoro possesses several notable abilities. He has great physical strength, speed, and endurance, and he can regenerate damaged body parts as long as his head remains intact. He can also extend and expand his limbs, move so quickly that he becomes difficult to see, fly, and use energy-based attacks in combat.
