Description
Manpuku is a supporting character in the Baby Gamba anime series. He is a plump mouse with a distinctive bowl‑cut hairstyle and serves as the childhood friend and constant companion of the main character, Gamba. True to his name, which suggests fullness or being stuffed, Manpuku is defined by his enormous appetite and love of food, often thinking about eating even in serious situations. His personality is cheerful, easygoing, and somewhat mischievous, with a tendency to act as a joker and provide comic relief. He is not particularly brave or ambitious, preferring comfort and a full stomach over adventure, but he is loyal to Gamba and reluctantly follows him into trouble. In the story, Manpuku’s primary role is that of Gamba’s sidekick and the voice of cautious reason, frequently trying to talk Gamba out of dangerous plans or serving as the target of Gamba’s energetic enthusiasm. He has no special abilities; his notable trait is his gluttony, which occasionally proves useful in unexpected ways. Throughout the short episodes of Baby Gamba, Manpuku shows little personal growth, remaining a reliably humorous and dependable friend who, despite his whining, never abandons Gamba when the need arises. His key relationship is with Gamba, but he also interacts amiably with other mice they meet.
