Description
Lizzie Bareare is an elderly pharmacist who once operated in the city of E-Rantel. She is the grandmother of Nfirea Bareare, a fellow apothecary. Despite her advanced age, Lizzie remains mentally sharp and highly knowledgeable about the composition, properties, and lore of potions. She has a demanding and fastidious personality, and her intense gaze can unnerve those around her. Her passion for potion-making is so strong that it sometimes borders on obsession, leading her to act in seemingly eccentric ways. Beyond her pharmaceutical expertise, Lizzie is also a magic caster who has mastered spells up to the third tier.

Lizzie’s primary motivation is the safety and well-being of her grandson, Nfirea. When Nfirea is kidnapped by the criminal organization Zurrernorn, Lizzie seeks help from the powerful undead sorcerer Ainz. She strikes a deal with Ainz, offering her services as a pharmacist in exchange for Nfirea’s rescue. This decision marks a turning point in her role within the story, as she becomes a valuable asset to Ainz and the Great Tomb of Nazarick. After the rescue, Lizzie agrees to relocate to Carne Village, where she produces potions for Ainz’s faction.

Her key relationships are with Nfirea, whom she cares for deeply, and with Ainz, whom she initially approaches out of desperation but later serves out of obligation. Through her interactions with Ainz and the forces of Nazarick, Lizzie’s character develops from a respected but independent local pharmacist into a supplier tied to one of the most powerful entities in the New World. Her notable abilities include her extensive knowledge of potion-making, her skill as a magic caster, and her shrewdness in negotiating under pressure. Lizzie Bareare plays a supporting role in the Overlord narrative, particularly in the events surrounding the city of E-Rantel and the expansion of Ainz’s influence.
