Dagruel, leader of the Giants and holder of the Octagram's fourth seat, rules the western Barren Lands on the Magic Continent. He and his brothers, Fenn and Glassord, originated as the rampaging Wicked God during the mythic age. Veldanava shattered this entity, separating them; Dagruel and Glassord renounced their malice, while the wicked Fenn was sealed. Veldanava rewarded Dagruel with land and the critical duty of guarding the Heaven Tower to prevent Fenn's escape.
Standing over 2 meters tall normally, Dagruel can expand tenfold in battle. He possesses blue eyes, slicked-back blue hair, and three teardrop-like facial tattoos. His physique radiates mountain-shattering strength. Despite his imposing form, Dagruel exhibits sharp observation and calm authority. He maintains quiet confidence in his formidable power yet stays wary of deceit among fellow Demon Lords. He shows deep care for his allies, providing Dino free accommodation for centuries. After a non-lethal skirmish in Tempest's capital where Shion bested them, he strategically sent his three sons—Dagura, Liura, and Debura—to train under Rimuru Tempest's guidance, inspired by Shion. Dagruel values loyalty intensely, taking offense at Clayman's betrayal and elimination of subordinates.
His history includes a close bond with Twilight Valentine, Luminous's creator. This friendship shattered after Luminous killed Twilight, sparking lasting conflict. Dagruel married Twilight's creation Kisara; they had three sons before her death during childbirth. This devastating loss also led him to seal Basara, another of Twilight's creations, after Basara descended into rampage. Dagruel's territory suffered catastrophic devastation when expelled energy from a clash between Milim Nava and Guy Crimson transformed it into a lethal desert wasteland. This environmental disaster fueled his territorial ambitions toward Luminous's fertile lands to address food scarcity, driving his ascension to Demon Lord.
Dagruel commands combat power rivaling True Dragons. His sealed form exceeds 40 million EP, while his Trinity Form (merging with his brothers) nears 120 million EP. Key abilities include Magic Nullity (immunity to magical attacks), True Sight (piercing illusions), and destructive techniques like Tidal Wave, Ashura Transformation, and Quasar Break—the latter converting his body into a pseudo-black hole erasing matter and absorbing targets. He manipulates tectonic forces and atmospheric electricity to generate earthquakes and lightning. His durability withstands attacks from beings like Veldora Tempest; their centuries of clashes ended in draws, fostering mutual respect.
During the Great War, Dagruel betrayed the Octagram alliance, launching his giants against Lubelius. He demonstrated immense resilience, tanking Luminous's strongest spells and shrugging off Shion's assaults with minimal effect. His climactic battle against Veldora ended in defeat, after which Veldora restored greenery to the wasteland. Dagruel then devoted his own magicules to nourishing the land's vitality, entrusting territory management to his sons.
Within the Octagram, Dagruel maintains complex ties: a rivalry marked by mutual respect with Luminous Valentine, cautious interactions with other Demon Lords, and surprise at Rimuru recruiting powerful demons like Ultima and Carrera. He expelled the indolent Dino from his home following Rimuru's Demon Lord ascension.
