Description
Natsuki Minamiya is a supporting character in the anime Strike the Blood II and the broader Strike the Blood series. She serves as an English teacher at Saikai Academy on Itogami Island, and is one of the very few individuals who knows that her student Kojou Akatsuki is the Fourth Primogenitor, a powerful vampire progenitor. Despite claiming to be twenty-six years old, she has the appearance of a young schoolgirl, a trait that is often a source of humorous tension with others.

Her background is deeply tied to her role as a high-ranking attack mage known as the Witch of the Void. In truth, her actual physical body is sealed away deep within a magical prison that houses the most dangerous supernatural criminals. The Natsuki that appears in daily life, at school, and on the streets of Itogami Island is an illusion projected from that sealed body. This makes her the de facto guard of that prison, a responsibility that defines much of her existence and her motivations.

Personality-wise, Natsuki displays a duality. She is often childish, stubborn, and has a hard time dealing with people, preferring her own company or that of a select few. She has a picky taste for black tea and is almost always seen wearing black gothic lolita fashion, complete with a black parasol or folding fan. Despite this prickly exterior, she is deeply caring, especially toward those she considers under her protection. This is demonstrated when she takes the homunculus Astarte to a festival purely so the girl can experience joy, an act that helps Astarte begin to show genuine expressions of delight. Her core motivation stems from her sense of duty as the prison warden and her quiet but firm commitment to protecting Itogami Island and its inhabitants from supernatural threats.

In the story, Natsuki acts as a powerful ally and occasional overseer to Kojou and his companions. She assists the Itogami Island Security force in investigating and dealing with crimes involving supernatural beings. Her role becomes especially critical in Strike the Blood II, where threats that challenge the very fabric of the island and the prison emerge. She is a formidable force on the battlefield, able to engage multiple powerful opponents simultaneously, including Kojou himself.

Her key relationships are defined by her professional and personal entanglements. She is Kojou Akatsuki's homeroom teacher, and he often addresses her as Natsuki-chan, a casual form of address she actively dislikes and scolds him for using. She works closely with Yukina Himeragi and other members of the Island Guard, providing both magical support and tactical advice. Her bond with Kojou carries a mentor-like quality, and she is not above using her authority to keep him in line, though she also trusts his judgment in critical situations. Her relationship with Astarte shows a softer side, as she takes on a protective, almost maternal role.

Throughout the series, Natsuki's development involves a gradual opening of her guarded personality. While she remains stubborn and prefers solitude, her willingness to involve herself in the personal lives and struggles of Kojou and his friends grows. Her role as the prison warden is challenged in Strike the Blood II, forcing her to confront threats that directly target her sealed body and the prison itself, testing the limits of her power and her resolve.

In terms of notable abilities, Natsuki is a witch who made a contract with a demon, granting her mastery over spatial control magic. This magic allows her to manipulate space itself, and she primarily uses it to summon powerful chains forged by gods to restrain and capture enemies. She wields these chains with exceptional precision and power, and can fight at a level that rivals the strongest beings on the island. Her guardian familiar, a humanoid figure clad in golden armor, serves as a powerful combatant in its own right. As the Witch of the Void, she is considered one of the most powerful human mages in the setting, capable of holding her own against vampires and other supernatural entities.
