Description
Haruma Kagutsuchi is a character from the anime film Monster Strike The Movie, recognized as a highly skilled and powerful player of the Monster Strike game. His background is defined by his leadership of a prominent team in the Kaminohara area, where he played alongside Aoi Mizusawa, Minami Wakaba, and Akira Kagetsuki. This was before Ren Homura joined the group, as Haruma departed from this original team prior to Ren's arrival, leaving the vacancy that Ren would later fill. Approximately one year before Ren's return, Haruma actively recruited Akira Kagetsuki. He recognized Akira's exceptional combat abilities and strategic mindset, particularly his talent for reading and anticipating enemy attacks. Haruma deliberately kept the team’s fourth position open until he could secure a suitable candidate, and he successfully proposed Akira’s inclusion to a reluctant Aoi and Minami.

After leaving his original team, Haruma formed a new Monster Strike team consisting of Kobayashi Mariko, Ichinose Shino, and Owada Kaoru. During this period, his personality underwent a dramatic shift, becoming notably cold and distant towards his former teammates and Ren. This change in behavior is not a genuine reflection of his character but is the result of external manipulation; he is subjected to brainwashing and control by a monster named Memento Mori. This control compromises his autonomy and is the direct cause of his strained relationships during this phase of the story.

Physically, Haruma is distinguished by a noticeably tanned or ambiguously brown complexion, a trait that stands out as his parents are described as having fair skin. He also possesses a deep, baritone voice. His leadership qualities and combat prowess are consistently highlighted throughout the narrative, establishing him as one of the strongest Monster Strike players depicted. His motivations are largely tied to his role as a leader and strategist, first in seeking out the best talent for his original team and later in the actions he is forced to undertake while under the control of Memento Mori. His key development involves the conflict between his original, capable self and his manipulated state, which creates significant tension and impacts his relationships, particularly with his former comrades and Ren.
