Description
Katarina Caletti, whose name is also presented as Catalina Canetti in some sources, is a central figure in the narrative of Cyborg 009 Call of Justice. She initially serves as a lieutenant in the United Nations counter-terrorism unit known as the Guardians, where she operates as the second-in-command to Captain Takeru Igarashi. Her outward role involves carrying out orders to track and apprehend the 00 Cyborgs, who have been framed for violent acts they did not commit.

Katarina is described as having a cool and composed personality, carrying out her duties with a professional, almost冷酷 or cold-blooded demeanor. This disciplined exterior, however, masks a complex inner world and a secret allegiance. Beneath her role as a Guardian officer, Katarina is a clandestine member of the Blessed, the film's advanced and enigmatic antagonist group seeking to guide or replace humanity. This dual loyalty defines her early actions in the story, as she participates in missions to capture the cyborgs while secretly serving a different master.

Her motivations are not driven by simple malice but by a belief system that becomes increasingly challenged. As a member of the Blessed, she appears to subscribe to their ideology regarding human evolution, though she also expresses doubt about the ability for standard humans to evolve, suggesting an internal conflict about the group's methods and goals. The primary catalyst for her character development is her interaction with Cyborg 009, also known as Joe Shimamura. She witnesses him use his unique Acceleration Mode ability to reverse time, an act she refers to as an unforeseen factor. This extraordinary power and Joe's inherent nature cause her to question her allegiance.

Katarina’s role in the story shifts from being an antagonist and pursuer of the 00 Cyborgs to a crucial, if temporary, ally. After a confrontation with the Blessed leader, Emperor, she openly defects from the group and sides with the cyborgs, providing them with vital intelligence about the Blessed's plans and the nature of her own powers. She confesses to Joe that the reason for her betrayal was him and his inexplicable ability to manipulate time, signaling the formation of a key relationship built on mutual respect and fascination.

Her character arc culminates in tragedy. In the final battle, Emperor senses her presence and retaliates by wiping her memories of her bond with Joe, attempting to force her back into loyalty. When she still resists and proves unable to kill Joe, Emperor completely erases her mind, reducing her to basic instincts. Demonstrating immense willpower, she manages to retain a fragment of her memories long enough to link Emperor's mind to Joe's, forcing the villain to experience the same devastating void that Joe endures during his acceleration. This act of defiance leads to her death; Emperor strikes her down, and she dies in Joe's arms after telling him she will never forget him.

In terms of notable abilities, beyond her standard combat training and equipment as a Guardian officer, Katarina possesses her own unique power as a member of the Blessed. She has the demonstrated ability to link minds, a psychic power she ultimately uses to connect Emperor and Joe, leading to the villain's downfall. Her skills also include infiltration and field combat, as seen during a mission to investigate the Blessed front company Dynamic Ultra alongside 006, 007, and 009.
