Description
Daemon is a significant character introduced in the Boruto manga, known for being one of the most powerful beings in the series despite his childlike appearance. He is a modified human, or cyborg, created by the scientist Amado from the now-defunct criminal organization Kara. Daemon is the younger brother of Eida, another powerful cyborg, and the two share a very close bond.
In terms of background, Daemon was created using the DNA of the Otsutsuki god, Shibai, granting him abilities that transcend the normal ninja techniques of the world. Because his power was deemed too great and unpredictable, he was initially ordered to be destroyed by Jigen, the leader of Kara. However, he was secretly preserved in a state of suspended animation within a hidden facility. He remained in this dormant state until he was awakened by Code, another former Kara member seeking allies to get revenge on those who brought down the organization.
Daemon’s personality is a study in contradictions. On the surface, he appears as an energetic, mischievous, and playful young child. He has a habit of jumping onto the backs of people he meets, demanding to be carried, and often acts in a carefree and childish manner. He is deeply attached to his sister, Eida, acting as her devoted guardian and following her commands without question. However, this playful demeanor vanishes completely in combat. When fighting, Daemon becomes cold, sadistic, and merciless, showing a ruthless efficiency that is both terrifying and shocking given his youthful appearance. His primary motivation is to protect his sister and stay by her side, and he finds enjoyment in seeking out and fighting strong opponents.
His role in the story is that of a chaotic wildcard. After being awakened by Code, he and Eida form a temporary and uneasy alliance with him, which later shifts as they relocate to the Hidden Leaf Village at Amado's suggestion. Daemon's presence is a massive power shift in the world, as his abilities make him virtually untouchable. He is not driven by grand ambitions for world domination or revenge; rather, his motives are simple and personal, revolving around Eida's happiness and his own amusement. This makes him an unpredictable force who can turn the tide of any conflict he decides to participate in.
Key relationships define his actions. The most important is with his sister, Eida, whom he is fiercely protective of. She considers him her only true protector and the only person besides an Otsutsuki who could kill her. He is distrustful of others, particularly those interested in his sister, but can form loose bonds of convenience, such as with Code, who he largely sees as inferior. He also shows a keen interest in certain individuals, such as the protagonist Boruto Uzumaki and Boruto's younger sister, Himawari, sensing a hidden power or a promising challenge within them.
The character shows little traditional development, as he is introduced as a nearly complete and unchallenged force. His interactions with others, such as his budding rivalry with Boruto or his fascination with Himawari, serve to build future plot points rather than change his core nature. He remains a constant, overwhelming presence whose loyalty is solely to his sister.
His notable abilities are what truly set him apart. His most fearsome power is a Shinjutsu, a divine ability, called Reflection. This ability automatically reflects any attack or killing intent directed at him back onto the attacker. If an enemy tries to strike him with the intention to kill, they will suffer the fatal blow instead. The reflected effect scales with the original attack’s power and killing intent. Known limitations of this power include the need for Daemon to be touching someone with his palm, though this condition appears to be easy for him to maintain and may also work through objects on occasion. Beyond this god-like ability, Daemon possesses incredible physical capabilities. His raw strength and taijutsu skill are enough to effortlessly overpower characters like Code, who had his power limiters removed and was already stronger than Jigen, as well as dispatch both Boruto and Kawaki in quick succession with simple blows. He is, in essence, a seemingly insurmountable physical powerhouse with a perfect, passive defense.
