Description
Hako Kuroi is a character from the anime Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, where she first appears as a student in the Ninja Academy in Konohagakure, the Hidden Leaf Village. Her name is introduced in the third Boruto novel. In terms of background, Hako is a young kunoichi from the same generation as the series' protagonist, Boruto Uzumaki, and is a resident of the Hidden Leaf. After successfully graduating from the academy, she is assigned to Team 25, alongside her fellow genin teammates Houki Taketori and Renga Kokubō.

Hako has a distinctive and memorable appearance. She is a young girl with black hair styled with a straight fringe, or bangs, and tied with a large ribbon or bow, and she has purple eyes. Her typical outfit is often described as a gothic lolita style, consisting of a black dress with a cape, gloves, and a headband. Her most recognizable accessory is a pink rabbit plushie with a fierce or grotesque expression, which she carries with her constantly and uses as a tool in combat.

Hako's personality is characterized by being direct, open, and melancholic in demeanor. She is not one to shy away from speaking her mind and can be quite blunt with her opinions. Her most prominent trait, however, is her exceptional perceptiveness. She is highly observant and capable of noticing the smallest details from a quick glance, which allows her to quickly assess situations and discern the nature of the people she encounters. This keen perception is a core part of her ability as a ninja and defines her role within her team.

Regarding her role in the story, Hako is a supporting character whose presence is mainly felt during the academy arc and later as a member of Team 25. For a significant period, Team 25 struggles with low-ranked missions and internal coordination. Her key relationships are primarily with her teammates, Houki and Renga, and their eventual leader. A significant episode showcases the team working together to solve a bomb threat in the village. During this event, Hako's sharp perceptive skills are highlighted as she is able to quickly calculate postal delivery routes to help locate the threats. Captain Yamato, in disguise, observes their potential, and by the end of the episode, it is revealed that Sai Yamanaka becomes the new leader of Team 25, which is then redirected to focus on intelligence-gathering missions where their individual skills can be best utilized.

Hako’s development as a ninja is tied to her growth in working cohesively with her unique team. Her abilities are multifaceted. She appears to have some knowledge of Fūinjutsu, or sealing techniques, which she can use to restrict the movements of a target or combine with allies to extend the technique's range. Her most distinctive combat ability involves manipulating her pink rabbit plushie, which she can make levitate and attack on command, suggesting skills similar to that of a puppet user. It is this combination of combat skills, particularly her masterful use of Fūinjutsu, and her nearly unmatched perceptive abilities that make her a valuable asset for her team's specialized intelligence role under Sai's leadership.
