Description
Duedecuple serves as the enigmatic referee and overseer of the Zodiac War, appearing in the 12th tournament. His very name is a term from dice games, referring to the rolling of double sixes for a total of twelve, which immediately connects him to the central theme of the contest he administers.

His background and true nature are largely shrouded in mystery. He is not one of the twelve warriors but rather an agent of the shadowy, powerful figures who orchestrate the event. In a meeting with international VIPs, Duedecuple reveals the war’s true purpose, explaining that it is a proxy conflict fought to determine political outcomes, such as the redrawing of national borders, thereby preventing a full-scale, traditional war. This reveals that he is more than a simple master of ceremonies; he is the operational manager of a brutal political tool.

Duedecuple’s personality is characterized by a professional, detached, and almost performative neutrality. He appears calm and articulate, explaining the rules to the assembled warriors with a dispassionate demeanor that belies the deadly nature of the game. When interacting with the VIPs, he acts as an informative host and a neutral intermediary for their bets, treating the warriors as assets or commodities in their wagers. His primary motivation seems to be the successful and orderly execution of the tournament itself, ensuring that its outcome is acknowledged by all relevant parties. He does not display any personal malice or favoritism towards the combatants, viewing his role as simply facilitating the bloody ritual.

Within the story, Duedecuple’s main role is to be the arbiter and the face of the tournament’s establishment. He appears at the beginning to brief the twelve warriors on the rules, emphasizing that the sole survivor will have any wish granted. His presence re-emerges at the climax. After the Rat, Nezumi, is victorious, Duedecuple appears and honors the tournament's contract, offering to grant the winner's wish. However, he also makes it clear that the victor is expected to cooperate with the powers that be, showcasing the transactional nature of the contest. When Nezumi declares his wish is to forget the war entirely, Duedecuple praises it as the highest possible wish, subtly admitting that the trauma of the event is its true cost, and grants it without hesitation.

Despite his calm exterior, Duedecuple is not passive. In the event that a winner refused to comply with the post-tournament interview and wishes process, he had prepared elaborate and deadly countermeasures, including numerous traps and contingencies to eliminate the rogue victor. His ability, therefore, is not a superhuman power like the warriors, but a form of absolute systemic authority. He possesses the means to broadcast the war to VIPs, appears and vanishes in an unusual, almost supernatural manner, and has access to resources like the antidote for the poison that coats the warriors' jewels. His authority is derived from the powerful organizations he represents, making him untouchable by the warriors themselves.

It is crucial to note that the character seen acting as the referee and commentator for the 13th Zodiac War is not the real Duedecuple. This figure is an impostor, the warrior of the Fish, Doctor Finish, who underwent extensive plastic surgery and used drugs to alter his voice and appearance to impersonate the original arbiter for his own purposes. The true Duedecuple did not appear in that particular, fraudulent tournament. His established role and formal demeanor from the 12th war serve as the baseline against which this impostor’s deception is later measured.
