Description
Elliot Ember is a central character in Inazuma Eleven Ares no Tenbin, recognized as one of the three main protagonists alongside his rivals and eventual teammates. Known on the field as the "Devil of the Field" for his aggressive, overwhelming playstyle and maniacal grin, he is a male student in his seventh year of middle school who plays as a forward. His jersey number is 11 when playing for Polestar Academy and later Inazuma Japan, and he wears number 14 during his time with Raimon. Physically, he has gray hair that often covers one of his eyes, sharp tricolored eyes featuring gray, red, and yellow hues, and a somewhat tanned complexion.

Personality wise, Elliot is initially portrayed as arrogant, indifferent, and dismissive of others. He does as he pleases, ignores requests from teammates, and rarely shows agitation during matches, but when his emotions are stirred, he becomes extremely aggressive and prone to mocking laughter. He initially refuses to play against certain opponents, deeming them weaklings, and treats football with a sense of cold detachment, viewing it merely as a tool for his own ends rather than something to be enjoyed or valued as a team sport.

His motivations are rooted in a traumatic past. As a child, Elliot was shy and withdrawn until a girl named Akane Miyano moved in next door and befriended him, bringing him genuine happiness. When Akane enrolled in a school program called Ares to learn how to heal others, she returned in a comatose state, confined to a hospital bed. This event shattered Elliot and ignited a burning rage within him. His sole motivation for playing football became revenge against the Ares program. He dedicates himself to defeating Outei Tsukinomiya, the academy at the center of the program, to prove its worthlessness and avenge what happened to his childhood friend.

In the story of Ares no Tenbin, Elliot first appears during a match between his team, Polestar Academy, and Raimon. Though he initially scoffs at the idea of playing, he is convinced by his coach, Jude Sharp, who recognizes Raimon's potential and suggests they might be the "light" that Elliot has been searching for in his dark and vengeful path. He demonstrates his power by scoring multiple goals, including using his signature technique, Overhead Penguin, leading his team to a decisive victory. Later, a pivotal moment occurs when he finds himself powerless to score against Outei Tsukinomiya, suffering a crushing defeat that leads him into deep self-doubt, unsure of his purpose now that his revenge seems impossible. This crisis eventually leads to him being convinced to temporarily join Raimon for a finals match, beginning his shift toward becoming a more integrated team player.

Key relationships shape his development. His dynamic with Jude Sharp is crucial, as Jude identifies Elliot's hidden potential and guides him toward a different path, even making the unconventional decision to play Elliot as a goalkeeper in one match to help him understand a different perspective on football. His rivalry and eventual partnership with players like Axel Blaze pushes him to confront his own limitations and frustrations. Most importantly, his bond with his hospitalized friend Akane serves as both his initial destructive motivation and eventually the emotional core that allows him to reevaluate what football could mean.

Throughout the series, Elliot undergoes significant development, transforming from a solitary player consumed by vengeance to someone who begins to understand the value of teamwork and the spirit of football beyond his vendetta. His initial refusal to train or play with his teammates gives way to learning how to collaborate, culminating in him representing Inazuma Japan on the national stage.

Elliot possesses several notable abilities and hissatsu techniques. His playing style is described as hyper-aggressive, overwhelming opponents with raw pressure. His solo shots include Overhead Penguin, where he calls upon six penguins before performing an acrobatic overhead kick, and Perfect Penguin, an even more powerful evolution of this technique. He is also proficient in combination techniques, such as Death Zone, performed with two partners, and more advanced combination moves like Penguin the God & Devil and Koutei Penguin 2gou feat. Shark, demonstrating his ability to synergize his power with other elite players. His abilities are rated highly in kick, control, and technique, underscoring his status as a formidable striker and a key player for any team he joins.
