Description
Satoshi Mizukami is a B-rank Shooter and member of Ikoma Squad, originating from Ōsaka. He was a childhood shōgi prodigy on track to become a professional player until middle school, later scouted by Border. Mizukami possesses a tall, thin build with light skin, messy orange hair, and small eyes featuring slit-pupiled irises. His uniform includes a vermilion jacket with a white zipper, a horizontal white stripe on the chest, black sections on the collar and upper sleeves, black pants, and gray-brown boots. Rectangular goggles with a vermilion strap hang around his neck. His hair's resemblance to broccoli earned him the iconic nickname "Broccoli" within Border.
Personality-wise, Mizukami shares his squad's general laid-back nature but demonstrates sharper tactical awareness of rank war circumstances. Though not the captain, he acts as the de facto tactician, monitoring battles and assigning tasks to teammates. This role can make him appear cold, surly, or argumentative. He occasionally employs tactical lies, an approach receiving mixed evaluations from Border leadership. His fleeting frustrations are primarily directed at his own shortcomings. Mizukami speaks in Kansai dialect and maintains interests in rakugo (memorizing 20–30 classic routines), shōgi (ranking among Border's best players), udon, and spring rolls. He attended a school for amateur shōgi players aspiring to turn professional and achieves excellent academic grades despite not attending an elite institution.
During combat operations, Ikoma Squad participated in Rad extermination within Mikado City and was deployed south of the base to intercept enemies during the Galopoula invasion. Mizukami's strategic role is evident across multiple B-rank wars. In Round 6 against Ōji Squad and Tamakoma Second, he analyzed wire zone tactics, assigned Kōji Oki to target Chika Amatori, coordinated with Tatsuhito Ikoma to pressure opponents, warned Kai Minamisawa of potential sneak attacks, and was eliminated by Kazuaki Ōji after being pinned. In Round 8 against Ninomiya Squad, Tamakoma Second, and Yuba Squad, he monitored converging battles, helped corner Hyuse, shielded Minamisawa from Viper bullets, and was later eliminated by Takuma Yuba. His tactical oversight contributed to Ikoma Squad finishing fourth in the season rankings with 34 points.
Mizukami's call signs include "Coming" (a pun on his surname) from Ōji. The series creator referred to him as "Lying Broccoli" for his tactical deceptions and hair iconography.
