Description
Acker Reese, known in the original Japanese version as Seiryuu Mizukamiya, is a male middle school student in the eighth grade and a key figure in the Inazuma Eleven Ares no Tenbin storyline. His primary position on the field is as a defender, and he possesses the wind element. Physically, Acker has pale skin and distinct blue hair with a single strand that falls over the center of his forehead, matching his blue eyes. His name carries thematic weight, as his Japanese surname, Mizukamiya, incorporates the character for "water" and can be interpreted as "arrow of the water god," which references the Aquarius constellation, fittingly aligning with his February 2nd birthday.
Acker serves as the captain of Seishou Gakuen, also known as Polaris Academy, a team regarded as a favorite to win the Football Frontier tournament following the decline of the previously dominant Royal Academy. In this role, he is characterized as a calm and friendly individual who typically maintains a level-headed demeanor. The official character guide describes him as always calm under pressure and the glue that holds his team together. However, this composed exterior masks a fierce ambition for victory when on the pitch. One of his most notable personality traits is his dynamic with teammate Elliot Ember, with whom he shares a friendly rivalry characterized by sarcastic yet ultimately accommodating comments.
As captain, Acker is deeply concerned with team cohesion, a challenge highlighted by Ember's highly individualistic and selfish playing style which does not sit well with the rest of the squad. Respecting Ember's abilities, Acker works to integrate him into the team's framework, a desire that is ultimately fulfilled when the team's coach and strategist devise a tactic to help Ember understand his teammates. This development helps unite Polaris Academy as they advance through the tournament. Acker leads his team in a memorable rematch against Raimon, where despite revealing his strong leadership and fighting alongside his teammates, they are narrowly defeated 5-4 due to Raimon's strategic growth. Following this group stage loss, Polaris Academy is eventually eliminated from the national tournament by Seishou Gakuen, a match where Acker and his team are outmatched in tactics, strength, and spirit, losing 3-0 in a game that leaves them both relieved and depressed. Despite these setbacks, Acker's abilities are recognized on a larger scale, and he is later selected as a defender for Inazuma Japan, wearing the number 24 jersey.
In terms of his playing abilities, Acker is a strategist with high intelligence, a trait reflected in his in-game stats which show exceptional intelligence and pressure management. He is capable of using several special hissatsu techniques. During the Ares no Tenbin arc, he is known to use a defensive technique called Kamakura-d, which he performs alongside Xavier Foster and Duske Grayling. In the subsequent Orion no Kokuin arc, his offensive capabilities are further showcased when he uses the powerful shooting technique Emperor Penguin 2. Beyond his on-field skills, supplementary materials reveal other facets of his background, including that he is a skilled cook and that a childhood accident of being hit by a car while retrieving a keychain left him with a lightning-bolt-shaped scar on his left hip.
