Movie
Description
Mikumo Guynemer is the ace vocalist of the tactical sound unit Walküre. Her background is deliberately kept mysterious, even to her fellow members. She was created as a genetically engineered clone, based on the genetic material of a figure from the Protoculture era known as the Star Singer. Her original DNA was discovered in a Windermere underground shrine by Hayate Immelmann’s father and later obtained by the enigmatic Lady M. She was artificially given fold receptors, the biological trait that allows her voice to neutralize the Var Syndrome. Despite her mature appearance, she is chronologically only three years old at the time of the story, which explains details such as her preference for hot milk and her unfamiliarity with carbonated drinks.

In personality, Mikumo is initially aloof, enigmatic, and self-reliant, often working alone on reconnaissance missions. She carries an air of detached confidence and rarely reveals her emotions. However, as the story progresses, she gradually opens up to her fellow Walküre members, learning to express genuine feelings and forming stronger bonds. Her motivation stems from her purpose as a weapon against the Var Syndrome, but she also begins to treasure the connections she makes through music.

In the story, Mikumo functions as the group’s trump card. Her voice contains the strongest biological fold waves of any Walküre member, making her performances exceptionally effective at calming Var outbreaks. She also possesses extraordinary physical abilities, allowing her to stand on the back of a variable fighter in flight using only a wire. During the events of the movie Passionate Walküre, she is captured by the Windermere kingdom and used as a tool to amplify their dimensional weapon. However, she eventually breaks free from Roid Brehm’s control and is rescued by Delta Flight, after which she rejoins Walküre with renewed resolve.

Her key relationships include a mentor-like dynamic with the younger Freyja Wion; she initially criticizes Freyja’s mistakes but later celebrates her growth. She also shares a close bond with the other Walküre members, particularly Kaname Buccaneer, and develops a notable respect for Hayate Immelmann, whose flying skills she nicknames the Immelmann Dance. Her development involves moving from a solitary, mysterious existence to embracing her role as part of a team, learning to trust and be trusted by those around her.

Her most notable ability is her singing, which generates powerful biological fold waves that can neutralize the Var Syndrome and even enhance allied combat performance. Her physical prowess is far beyond a normal human’s, and she is skilled in acrobatic movement and combat. She also demonstrates the ability to use holographic projection technology as part of her stage performances. Overall, Mikumo Guynemer is a central figure in the battle against the Var Syndrome, whose hidden origins and growing humanity form a key emotional arc in the movie.
