OVA
Description
Genta Kojima is a young student at Teitan Elementary School and a member of the Junior Detective League, a group of amateur detectives that also includes Conan Edogawa, Ai Haibara, Ayumi Yoshida, and Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya. He is distinguishable as the largest of the group. His family runs a liquor store called Kojima Liquors, and he lives with his parents, though little is known about his mother.
Genta has a bold and outspoken personality, often declaring himself the leader of the Junior Detective League. Despite this self-appointed title, his leadership skills are somewhat lacking, and the group, including Genta himself, tends to unconsciously look to Conan for guidance in the field. His brashness and occasional lack of awareness can lead him into troublesome situations, but underneath this exterior, he is fundamentally a kind and dependable friend.
One of Genta's most defining characteristics is his enormous appetite, with a particular love for braised eel on rice. This love for food is so strong that he often measures the value of money or other items in terms of how many bowls of eel rice they could buy. His thoughts frequently circle back to food, which can sometimes cause him to misunderstand similar-sounding Japanese words, especially those related to eating, and he has been known to struggle with reading common kanji.
His primary motivation is his passion for solving mysteries and acting as a young detective, a pursuit he shares with his close friends. He maintains strong bonds with Ayumi and Mitsuhiko, and he greatly admires his father, Genji Kojima, who is considered a classic Child of Edo. While he is integral to the main Detective Conan narrative, his role in the 2011 Magic File, Niigata - Tokyo Omiyage Capriccio, is part of the larger cast of characters. In this OVA, which follows the events of the film Quarter of Silence, he is among the Junior Detective League members who have returned from a trip to Niigata and become involved in a mystery concerning a souvenir gift that was accidentally swapped with one purchased by Sonoko Suzuki.
