Description
Minami Natsume is a former child acting prodigy who rose to fame at a very young age, winning a Best Supporting Actor award for his performance in a film called Kagurazuka. He eventually stepped away from acting to study music abroad in Northmeir, where he met Haruki Sakura, though the two later parted ways when Minami returned to Japan. He is now a member of the idol group ZOOL and serves as its lead composer and songwriter.

Minami has light blonde hair and brown eyes, and he frequently wears a gentle smile. He speaks in a consistently polite manner, a habit that stems from pressure he experienced as a child actor to always behave courteously. Beneath that composed exterior, however, he harbors a dark and two‑faced personality. He can be extremely sarcastic and is known to deliver veiled threats with a smile, a trait that has led others to describe him as slimy. As a child, Minami was focused on doing things for the sake of others, but he eventually reached a breaking point and now openly describes himself as selfish, wanting others to put in extra effort for him rather than the reverse. This shift in attitude is central to his character: he wants to fight through his music and to express his true self, stating that he wishes to start over.

Minami’s motivations are closely tied to this desire for authenticity and self‑assertion. He uses songwriting as a weapon and a means of self‑expression, and he is determined to prove himself on his own terms. His polite demeanor often masks a sharp, calculating mind, and he is highly intelligent. He has a strong interest in fortune‑telling, which he practices by reading people’s physical features, and he sometimes makes predictions about ZOOL’s fate. He is also an accomplished pianist, a passionate foodie, and skilled at mathematics. Minami is ambidextrous, collects watches and clocks, and has obtained a motorcycle license. He lives alone and often loses track of time when composing, leading his bandmate Haruka Isumi to call him around midnight to remind him to sleep.

Within ZOOL, Minami’s relationships with the other members are complex. He works closely with Haruka Isumi, Toma Inumaru, and Torao Mido, and the group’s aggressive, confrontational style reflects Minami’s own willingness to use his music as a tool of competition. His past as a child actor also links him to other characters in the industry, such as Yamato Nikaido and Yuki, with whom he appeared in a film. Despite his outwardly calm demeanor, Minami is considered the most combat‑capable member of ZOOL by his peers, and he does not hesitate to express his darker impulses. Over the course of the story, he remains a figure of contradiction: polite yet cutting, composed yet deeply selfish, and always driven by a desire to fight for his own identity through his art.
