Description
Astarotte Ygvar, who is most often called by her nickname Lotte, is the central character of her story and the first princess of the kingdom of Ygvarland. She is a young member of the dream demon or succubus race, and at the beginning of the narrative, she is ten years old. Physically, Lotte appears as a small girl with large sage-green eyes and long, golden-blonde hair that she typically wears in two pigtails secured with red ribbons. Her common attire includes a blue sleeveless dress with a white high collar and purple cuffs, often paired with knee-length stockings and purple pumps, or her school uniform.

Lotte's personality is shaped by a deeply ingrained trauma. As a young child, she once shared a bed with her mother, Queen Mercelída, and woke up to witness her mother engaged in intimate acts with a male member of the royal harem. This incident instilled in her a fierce and intense hatred for all men. So strong is this aversion that she decided to leave the main royal palace and take up residence in a separate mansion, surrounding herself almost exclusively with female servants to avoid male contact. Despite this estrangement, she does not hate her mother. In fact, she secretly admires the queen's mature beauty and voluptuous figure, feeling self-conscious about her own slow physical development and small stature. Her personality is often stubborn and childish, and she can be quiet and reserved in crowded settings like her school, where other students tend to keep their distance due to her royal status.

As a member of the dream demon race, Lotte has specific biological requirements. Upon reaching maturity, succubi must regularly consume a substance known as "sauzfryma" or life seed from males to sustain their health and magical abilities, similar to how a vampire requires blood. The age of ten is traditionally when a young succubus is expected to begin forming a harem to secure this future supply. To avoid this obligation while still appearing compliant, Lotte declared that the first member of her harem must be a human male from another world, believing this to be an impossible task since humans were thought to be extinct in her realm and the magical Yggdrasil tree that connects the worlds was dormant. However, her chief attendant Judit successfully activated the World Tree and brought a human man named Naoya Tohara, along with his young daughter Asuha, to Ygvarland.

Initially, Lotte was cold and dismissive towards Naoya, treating him as nothing more than a "toy" as per their agreement. She set strict rules and refused to interact with him more than necessary. However, Naoya's consistent patience, kindness, and caring paternal attitude, combined with the playful energy of his daughter Asuha, slowly began to break down her defenses. Over time, Lotte opened up, revealing a more talkative, willing, and even playful side of her personality. With Asuha's help, she even made new friends at school for the first time and began to tentatively reconcile with her mother. Her feelings for Naoya evolved significantly, and she began to harbor romantic affection for him. This is expressed through classic tsundere traits: she acts brusque and easily flustered around him, but becomes possessive and jealous when his attention is directed elsewhere.

A major revelation in Lotte's life involves her relationship with Asuha. She learns that Asuha is not just her best friend, but actually her older half-sister, Asuhariet Ygvar. The queen had briefly traveled to the human world years prior and conceived Asuha with a young Naoya before returning her to him to raise. Lotte is initially furious that this secret was kept from her while others knew, but she ultimately forgives Naoya and Asuha, acknowledging the strong bond she shares with her newfound sister. Lotte's role in the story is as a protagonist who must confront her deep-seated trauma, navigate the complex biological and social expectations of her race, and learn to trust and love others. Her development is marked by her journey from an isolated, angry, and lonely princess to a girl capable of forming meaningful emotional connections. The conclusion of her story sees this growth realized, with the manga depicting her eventual marriage to Naoya, while the anime concludes with her fully accepting and acknowledging her love for him without the formal union.

In terms of abilities, as a young succubus, Lotte has magical potential that is tied to her health and development. She has not yet manifested wings, which are considered a secondary characteristic of adult dream demons, and a mark on her back is a precursor to this growth. Her power is intrinsically linked to the World Tree, Yggdrasil, and her maturation process is a key element of the plot. While not a fighter, her status as a princess and her inherent magical nature are central to her identity and the challenges she faces.
