Description
Aitor Cazador, known in Japanese as Kariya Masaki, is a first-year student who joins the Raimon soccer club as a defender midway through the Inazuma Eleven GO series. His past is marked by a painful abandonment; at the age of eleven, he was left at the Sun Garden orphanage by his father, who claimed he could no longer care for him. This event shattered his ability to trust others, leading him to keep people at a distance and interact primarily through the lens of deception.
Physically, Aitor has medium-length blue hair with fine eyebrows and tanned skin. His most telling feature is his brown-gold eyes, which change shape to reflect his true mood; they appear round and innocent when he is pretending to be kind, but become sharp and triangular when he is genuinely angry or annoyed. This physical shift mirrors his dual personality. On the surface, he presents himself as a calm, shy, and polite boy, a facade so convincing that others initially see him as an angel. Beneath this mask, however, lies a more aggressive, provocative, and even arrogant individual. He is a natural actor who takes pleasure in unsettling those around him, particularly his teammate Gabriel Garcia. Despite his troublesome behavior, his profiles note that he has a good heart underneath his prickly exterior.
Aitor’s primary motivation in the story stems from his lack of trust. He uses soccer and his antagonistic behavior as a shield, testing those around him to see if they will eventually abandon him as his father did. He is particularly skilled at getting a rise out of Gabriel Garcia, often mocking him and trying to prove that he is a spy or an Imperial. However, this rivalry hides a deeper, unspoken respect and care for his teammate. In Chrono Stone, he demonstrates this by faking an illness to give up his own spot on a trip to France, allowing Gabriel to go in his place. His time with Raimon gradually helps him open up, and he learns to work collaboratively with others, moving past his initial isolation.
As a defender wearing the number 15 jersey, Aitor is noted for his excellent balance and quick directional changes. His playing style is centered on hunting, reflected in the names and functions of his techniques. His signature hissatsu is Hunter's Net, a defensive move designed to trap the ball and dispossess opponents. He also possesses a shooting technique called Illusion Ball. While competent on the field, Aitor has a notable weakness for naming things; his suggestions for technique names, such as Run Run Running, are often laughed at by his teammates. He also has a strong, irrational fear of snakes, known as ophidiophobia.
