Description
Myousai Kakouen is an eighteen-year-old assassin from Kyosho, a second-year student at Kyosho's College who carries the A-rank toushi classification. She stands at 170 centimeters tall with long jet-black hair and crystal blue eyes, typically wearing an all-white tunic with white high-heeled boots without laces and red gloves.
Her background is rooted in a violent past. Before coming to Japan, she was found by Moutoku Sousou in a war zone, presumably in Southeast Asia, where she was dressed in army fatigues that suggested she had been a rebel or revolutionary. She was in the middle of a sexual assault by a soldier when Sousou intervened and saved her, an event that cemented her unwavering devotion to him. Sousou took her back to Japan, and from that point forward her entire existence became dedicated to protecting and serving him.
In terms of motivation, Myousai lives solely for Sousou's sake. She has no personal ambitions beyond his safety and well-being, and her loyalty is absolute to the point that she disregards her own life in battle. This single-minded devotion defines every action she takes and every alliance she forms. She fights not for glory or personal gain but because Sousou is the most important person in her life, a fact that the fighter Chou-un recognized when they clashed.
Her personality is marked by a quiet intensity and ruthless efficiency in combat, but beneath that exterior lies someone who is deeply bound to the person who rescued her. She is driven by a sense of indebtedness and purpose that she found through Sousou. This loyalty can manifest in fiercely competitive behavior, such as when she attacked her own allies after they captured Ryubi because she wanted to be the one to make that capture herself.
In the story's events, Myousai was initially defeated by Ryomou and Saji during the Battle of Chibi. She was presumed lost or dead, but in the fifth episode of Great Guardians it is revealed that she survived and is working with a mysterious figure. In the sixth episode, she allies with Saji to distract Kakouton while Saji makes off with Ryofu. During that fight she is about to finish Kakouton but is interrupted by Hakufu and is ultimately defeated by Kakouton. Later, she engages Kakouton and Koukin in combat once more, only to be interrupted by Sousou's return, after which she returns to Kyosho alongside Kakouton and Sousou.
Her key relationships are centered on Sousou as the focal point of her loyalty. She also develops a deep respect for Chou-un after their fight, because Chou-un understood that Myousai was fighting for someone she treasured. She works with Saji on occasion but her primary allegiance never wavers from Sousou. Her relationship with Kakouton involves repeated confrontations during Great Guardians.
Her notable abilities include extreme combat skill that places her among the more dangerous fighters in the series, with some accounts describing her as more skilled than Ryofu, though that comparison may have been influenced by Ryofu's deteriorating condition at the time they fought. She is extraordinarily durable, appearing to feel little to no pain in battle. She specializes in pressure point attacks and wields a jade shot attached to a very long metal wire, which she uses both as a projectile and as a tool for restraining her opponents. Her fighting style is precise, relentless, and focused on incapacitation.
After the Battle of Red Cliffs, Myousai is shown to be alive and in charge of Kyosho Academy in the absence of Sousou and Kakouton. She is determined to restore Kyosho to its former power and searches desperately for any sign of Sousou, revealing that her core motivation continues to drive her even in the aftermath of conflict.
