Description
Milo du Scorpion is the Gold Saint of the Scorpion constellation and the guardian of the Scorpio Temple, the eighth house of the Sanctuary in the film Saint Seiya: Legend of Sanctuary. In this adaptation, Milo is depicted as a female warrior, a notable departure from the original manga and earlier series. She is a highly skilled and proud Saint, known for her intelligence, noble bearing, and unwavering dedication to her duty. Milo carries herself with an air of confidence and authority, reflecting her status as one of the twelve Gold Saints.
Her primary motivation is loyalty to the Sanctuary and to the Pope, whose orders she follows without question at the outset of the story. She firmly believes the Bronze Saints and Saori Kido are traitors and a false Athena, and she is prepared to eliminate them to protect the established order. This sense of duty drives her to engage Seiya and Shun in combat as they pass through her temple. However, her convictions are challenged when she discovers the testament of the late Sagittarius Gold Saint, Aiolos, which reveals the Pope’s treachery and the true identity of Saori. This discovery triggers a shift in her allegiance, leading her to side with Athena and the Bronze Saints.
In the film, Milo’s role is initially that of an antagonist who blocks the heroes’ path. She fights fiercely but with a certain sense of honor, giving her opponents the chance to retreat or surrender. After learning the truth, she becomes a valuable ally to the goddess and joins the other loyal Gold Saints in the final battle against the false Pope, Gemini Saga. Her relationships with fellow Gold Saints, particularly Leo Aiolia, are marked by mutual respect, and she is shown to be a trusted comrade among them.
Milo’s personality is characterized by a strong sense of justice, pride in her position, and a quick temper that flares when her honor or the Sanctuary’s integrity is questioned. Yet she is also capable of introspection and changing her mind when presented with compelling evidence, demonstrating a capacity for growth. During the course of the story, she evolves from a rigid enforcer of the Pope’s will to a defender of the true Athena, actively participating in the assault on the final temple.
In terms of abilities, Milo wields the power of her Cosmo to perform light-speed attacks, a hallmark of Gold Saints. Her signature technique is the Scarlet Needle, a series of fifteen precise strikes that target the vital points of an opponent’s body, mimicking the stings of a scorpion. Each needle causes immense pain and progressively weakens the victim, with the fifteenth strike, Antares, being lethal. She can also use Restriction, a technique that paralyzes an enemy by attacking their nervous system with a light-speed finger strike. Additionally, she possesses the basic Gold Saint skills of light-speed movement and powerful energy-based attacks. Her fighting style is direct and aggressive, reflecting her combative nature.
