Cliff Grimoire, grandson of the Pope of the Milis religious order, was adopted at age five by Harry Grimoire, a high-ranking member. Recognized as gifted from an early age, he achieved advanced rank in summoning, detoxification, healing, and fire magic during his youth. His biological grandmother's hobbit heritage contributed to his short stature. Initially introduced alongside Eris Boreas Greyrat's adventures, Cliff displayed extreme arrogance, proclaiming himself a genius while looking down on others. Meeting Eris in an adventurer's hall sparked his feelings for her, though his attempts to impress led to unfavorable comparisons with Rudeus Greyrat. His arrogance persisted upon enrolling at Ranoa Magic Academy, where he became classmates with Rudeus and maintained initial hostility. An incident involving false rumors about Elinalise Dragonroad led to Cliff being assaulted by classmates after intervening; he initially rejected Rudeus's assistance. Cliff's character developed significantly after encountering Elinalise at the academy. He became deeply infatuated, admiring her name, appearance, and demeanor. Despite Rudeus's warnings, Cliff confidently confessed his feelings. Elinalise accepted his proposal after finding it "manly," and they became a couple. Learning of Elinalise's curse requiring regular sexual activity for survival, Cliff vowed to research a cure, dedicating himself to studying curses. He later married Elinalise, and they had a son named Clive. His research yielded significant achievements. He developed a magic tool capable of suppressing Elinalise's curse for several months initially, later extending this suppression to a full year. He also worked on mitigating Orsted's curse, which caused instinctive fear and hatred in others, achieving partial suppression that required Orsted to wear a special helmet. Academically, Cliff graduated with honors from Ranoa Magic Academy and collaborated with Rudeus Greyrat and Zanoba Shirone on inventions including the Zariff prosthetic limbs and Rudeus's magic armor series. Cliff possessed the Demon Eye of Identification, obtained from Kishirika Kishirisu after aiding her. This eye provided detailed information about objects within Kishirika's knowledge, displaying "unknown" for unfamiliar items. His magical proficiencies included advanced rank in water, earth, wind, fire, healing, detoxification, and divine strike magic, alongside intermediate barrier magic and advanced summoning magic. Politically, Cliff was expected to succeed his grandfather as Pope. He eventually left Sharia for Milishion, his hometown, to assume responsibilities within the Milis religious order. His connection to the church made him a strategic ally for Orsted's faction, as the Holy Kingdom of Milis represented significant military strength. In an alternate timeline, Cliff died in Milishion's cathedral while attempting to steal god-rank detoxification magic with Rudeus and Zanoba to cure Roxy Migurdia, succumbing to poisoning during their escape. In the main timeline, his contributions extended beyond curse research. He played a role in saving the Superd race and participated in developing communication magic tools based on dragon race technology under Orsted's guidance.
